No video but it’s super easy. Unplug the Y splitter at the A pillar and plug the new switch connector ln. Route switch wire to the location of your choice. Install switch (small toyota size) and ground the black wire.

So with Meso's switch, it would control both puddles snd footwell lights if they are sharing the same A pillar connection through the splitter option? Also , is there a rough idea of when puddle switch comes in? Currently have the puddle pods and now waiting for footwell in stock. thinking of also waiting for the switch and do it all together?
    Cheers

Im not really reinventing the wheel here. I have @kmorgan3 ’s breakout harness for the ASM switch for illumination. I’ll just tie into that.

Just want to see switch in the overhead and how packed your A-pillar is when you do it.

I have both (@MESO 's puddle pods + switch and @kmorgan3 'sVLED footwell lights) and no, they function separately from one another. Meaning, the switch only works with the puddle pods and the footwell lights work with the door/light stalk. If you don't mind waiting, I guess it's nice to knock it all out at once but as many have said, the only tedious, time consuming part is the boot. The A pillar part is easy... and I have the driver side grab handle :anonymous: and it surprisingly still wasn't bad.

I just realized when I was installing the puddle pods after the footwells that the A-pillar T harnesses have different pigtails. The Footwells A-pillar harness will work when adding puddles. But the puddle pods T-harness won't when adding Footwells. They have different pigtails.
I thought about using the Puddles T-harness due to it being shorter than the Footwells harness...that's all folk.:hattip:

So it’s more efficient to hook up the footwell lights first then the puddle’s second to piggy back on the vled splitter?

That’s right. The puddle harness will not work for the footwell lights that don’t suck but the footwell lights that don’t suck harness will work for both.

    Yup! Footwells,
Yup! Footwells, Puddles and V5. and make sure you request for the “V5 pigtails” too! I’m a little ticked right now as I realized that in order to PnP the V5 via the puddle pods splitter, I’ll need the @MESO V5 pigtails too! So I requested for the pigtails day after I ordered my V5. Got an email from Austin S. that he made a note in my order the day before it shipped out on Monday. Just received my V5 today and guess what?? NO V5 pigtails. Now I have to write a ticket. Wish it was handled better. Or just include the pigtails. Specially I just recently ordered the puddle lights. I just hate going back and forth and wasting time.

Glad I caught this before deciding to install. Vled’s are due in late May. So this will have to wait. Thanks for the info all.

What if you move the switch to right after the breakout harness so that the footwell and puddle pods are connected after it? Does it not work both if they are both plugged in after the switch? that's what I was wanting to try when I'm able to get the switch.

Im in the same boat cuse I didn’t listen to @memario1214 and order from his store the other week when he had a few aqua sets in… maybe I should have asked if he had the harness laying around. I ordered from VLEDs to get the splitter and their backordered till late May as well.

I’m considering installing everything up to the pillar where I think they would go into the footwell splitter… anyone can confirm that?
I’d at least have everything ready. I tested the pods using a battery and they work great.

Yeah, both sides go up into the A-pillar and connect into the Meso splitter, the Meso splitter will get connected into one side of the Vleds splitter. If that makes sense.

That’s right. We use a different wire than @MESO so if you have his puddle pod harness, you won’t be able to use the footwell lights as intended. However, when designing the footwell harness I specifically broke out the pins Stew uses for puddles + V5 + the ones I needed on my version of the harness. Then made a splitter with the same pin mapping he uses on the 4-position JST so you could run them all. Puddles go to the 4-position, footwells to the 5-position. Functions great, you just have to use my harness if you want to install all of the accessories.

Yea, I took a look at an instal video after I posted that… either I’ll just hook up the pods with the included and swap to the other harness when the footwells come in or pre wire the pods to be inside the door and waiting to go up the pillar.
Swapping the two harnesses won’t be a big deal well shouldn’t be lol

Maybe I can help with this, here is from the instal for the pods, I circled where the pod harness will be swapped with the vled harness, if I’m right.
