hey Tacoma peeps...Just installed my pods today. Took forever but it was a success. A few questions:

    1. Prior to installing the puddle pods when I pressed unlock on my fob the lights inside the truck would turn on (now they don't turn on when I press the unlock button...They only turn on when the doors open or when I'm approaching the driver side door)..Is this the case for any of yall?

    2. The pods only turn on when you get close to the vehicle or open the door? Not when you press unlock. Just double checking that this is normal operation?

    3. I have a Runnin4Taco plug and play tailgate lock...After the meso puddle install when I hit lock it does the regular lock and then there's a millisecond lag and it locks again (even though its already locked). Any of yall experience this?

ps any one have a part # on the side mirror 10 mm bolt head? I lost one

    Thanks as always fam

I believe they are supposed to work in conjunction with your OEM features. They should function with the interior lights, not disable them. They should be turning on with your dome and maps as they did prior to install.

My lights still turn on with my remote when pressing unlock. I think your truck has to be locked first for that to happen.

However, I did notice the double locking of the tailgate actuator when locking the truck with the remote...

Thanks guys the problem went away when I disconnected the running for tacos tailgate lock. I don’t mind manually locking the tailgate. It was glitching the truck when I had the Meso pods sharing the same receptacle pigtail on the passenger side floor area

Consider the OEM tailgate lock harness. No problems at all with it. But I’m surprised that the r4t has trouble. Sounds like maybe just the wrong wires sourced. Also, it’s possible to configure one click to lock/unlock all doors or just driver door in the head unit vehicle settings, I assume that part is obvious and well known. I switched mine to unlock all doors so I didn’t have to double click because I’m usually opening a door for a kid or the shell / tailgate to load or even a back door for my work laptop backpack.

My harness is the OEM tailgate harness. Tailgate definitely does a double lock starting since I've installed the puddle pods. My tailgate harness plugged into the passenger side footwell, and my puddles plugged into the driver's side. Not sure what signal is getting messed up a bit, but I don't really mind the issue. If the actuator dies early I'll consider it a cost of having the puddle pods I guess.

OEM harness might address the lights not turning on with unlock for @treyfive though

thanks bro. Can you send a link to the harness if you have it? My setting were also one click for driver unlock. Double for everything else. For now I disconnected the R4t harness. I’ll lock it with the key in the meantime. It was the reason the map and dome lights werent turning on and the double lock on the tailgate. Also made a double click sounds when I put it in reverse

Someone on YouTube said their pods don’t turn on when hitting unlock on the fob even with the OEM tailgate lock BUT their interior lights function normal. Interesting some have the issue and some don’t. Even w the OEM tailgate lock

I will say that they don’t come on when unlocking, when the truck is already unlocked.

Just finished my install, everything worked out it seems. I was a little cautious after seeing some of the issues people were having, but truck started up just fine and a function check worked like a charm. The wires did like to try to get pinched in the side mirror when bolting back on. I just kept tugging back and forth while tightening to make sure they were still loose. My 2020 had a weird clip holding two harnesss in place, which made placement of the T harness challenging, but I eventually made it work. I feel like the passenger side wires are just a tad short. It was a challenge to run the wires where they'd be long enough. My biggest issue was probably running the wires through the side mirror. I already have the wire from the V5's running through there, so I had to de-pin the molex connectors to get the wires fed through. Just an FYI for those who may have the same setup as myself.

I also have the SET port installed LED Illumination Package, which uses the same two wires that the pods use. I went ahead and wired them up to the pods splitter so that they can also be controlled with the switch (hopefully soon to be released).

Overall, install wasn't too bad. Just takes a bit of time. I forgot my full throttle in the freezer. When I finally remembered it was there, I got to drink a slushy energy drink.

Next up on my list is @oostroma's LED shift knob with the stealth switch kit and my new 3rd brake light.

I'm gonna cry. I ordered some puddle pods but was missing the V5 Harnesses. Created a ticket and ended up getting two passenger extensions :annoyed:

I did the vled footwells and I had 2 harness because i have the 360 cameras. I also have the v5s that i tapped into the door harness for dim/drl mode. I might change it and hook up the v5s to the puddle pods harness. Not sure if I really want to remove the wires and stuff out of the mirrors again. What so you have your v5s wired too?

I didn't pull any wires out, although that would make it easier, but the V5's not having a disconnect from the inside of the door make that hard to accomplish.

For my V5's, I wired up to the DRL, parking lights, and headlights. @daveeasa made my harness, and it works quite well. I like having the ability to turn off the V5's when I set the stalk to DRL OFF. If you don't care for that, I would recommend using the puddle pod harnesses.

Yeah I tapped into the door wiring harness, for time being. I actually have Dave's harness too sitting in the box. I got lazy to install it. lol but I don't really care to turn off the v5's drl or anything. I will probably just plug the the v5s into the puddle pod harness. I just sell Dave's harness on here.
