MESO Total Tail Light Kit

Same here. I have the V5 and resistors but didn't think to try them without the resistors after installing the V5.

 

If either of you need to off load those resistors, let me know. I installed the Stage 1 into my SR5 and I have hyper flashing on one side and MESO is out of stock so I need at least one.

Resistors built into V5’s don’t appear to be strong enough to stop the hyper flash with a turn signal on while in reverse. At least not on my truck. I tried it this morning and it happened when I disconnected the resistor pack, but not while it was connected.

 

I don’t think the V5’s have resistors in them. The V4’s were advertised that way but I have never seen that for 5’s. I also saw reviews that said the V4’s would quit working after a few minutes, I’m assuming that was a safety feature due to heat from the resistor. I would assume they didn’t like that and quietly ditched resistors for V5.

It is a higher ohm kit which means less amp draw (anyone who knows the electrical formulas knows that higher resistance equals less electrical movement and as such, less amp draw) so they don’t get near as hot as your standard 1 bulb replacement 6 ohm or 2 bulb replacement 3ohm resistor.

Simply plug these in using the included Y’s in between the Meso switchback and the Meso harness, stick the resistor to metal and you will be good to go, reverse or not. I believe these are basically the same principle as what Meso sells and is out of stock on currently.

 

Not sure parallel parking is a very specific and uncommon situation - I do it almost every single day. It's worth it to snag the resistors to stop that issue.

 

Agreed fully. I wanna say for me to buy the correct ones from VLEDS, it ran me like $20 and they were fully plug and play. I see no reason to skimp.

Cool. Those used to be out of stock all the time which is why I went the VLEDS route. Plus I was buying a few other things too so it made sense to throw them in the basket.

 

Does anyone know what a good replacement for the Red LEDs in the Stage 1 Kit would be? I had one totally die on me after a year and need a replace and probably want to pick up a spare or two to have in hand (I live rural).

swapped all 4 of mine out for them. Better low brightness (dimmer so as to not fatigue others) and brighter on bright mode. Definitely better quality, I have never had a VLEDS failure in multiple years and tons of products from them.

That's what I run in the Tacoma if you don't want to go Tritons. I did in the Tundra though

I have 4 spare Stage 1 brake light bulbs if you want them.

I just had a red 7443 S1 go out too. Opened a ticket on MESO's website, waiting to see what my options are.

 

There are replacement bulbs on the site, but I've never seen them in stock. I think he probably just sends out replacements.

 

I had eight spare bulbs at one time

I forgot about the initial four @Soul Surfer provided me and then bought another four from Meso when the last batch of Stage 1 Kits were released.


For anyone wanting a bulb, I have no problem providing a single bulb or two for free...
