If you have bulb adapters for the switchbacks, then you need VLEDS V6 triton or extreme (extreme recommended).

the brake bulbs are just plain ole 7443/7444 red, you can run any led you want or you can even run incandescents. The red 50-led from VLEDS are solid, or you can buy Meso spares if they’re available or any other brand. You can run v6 extreme reds as well but those are super expensive and will kill the wallet. It’s a bit much for brake bulbs.

not a lot of issues to be worried about, but the common theme is folks want to have parts on hand just in case. Mainly because hey are specialty parts that you can’t buy at the store. Not that that means any of it is unreliable, but it’s nice to have backups if it comes to that. Your stage 2 should be all VLEDS parts which are higher quality than Meso typically, so you likely don’t have much to worry about if they’re 3yo.

Same, no issues in 3 1/2 years. Even use the same switchback in the tundra and same style bulbs. A few differences but all same sizes in different locations

edit: and I can buy the same oil and engine air filters.

Man those switchbacks are expensive! Might grab a few brake bulbs though.

In 2019, they used to be way less. Like 30-40% less.

Do you run the 50s or one of the V6/triton/extreme type bulbs for your reds? Curious of anyone who has done a comparison, I only have experienced with the 50s and I like them fine but they are not wicked bright or anything like that. The more expensive ones are the ones I’ve seen a few rare failures of on the web, so I’ve been hesitant to spend that much on them (although they have great customer service so I doubt that part would ever be a problem and they have a good warranty)

    Tacoma has 50’s
Tundra has a mix of the full size tritons and 921 red extremes because how it was set up. The tritons are pretty sweet.
I didn’t upgrade the Tacoma because I have a vled LP brake bar with the BDS1 hitch pod so covered me bases on that.
Tundra has the full sV6 tritons with just a vled LP reverse bar. which I might be upgrading to the multi function LP bar

Gotcha. Yeah those new bars they released are sweet! I think I’ll stick to the 50s on my truck since they work well enough and I already own them.

Yeah, I’m trying to tell myself no for the new ones but they are sweet and keeps my hitch free. I have a feeling I’m going to get it though

I want to at least have the spare Reds on hand. One extra is nice, but there’re sold in pairs.

I’m certain if one of the bulbs Shit the Bed that VLEDS would send out a replacement ASAP.
Having that spare is an ace in the hole till the replacement arrives.

Maybe selling the hitchpod will justify it? I need to sell mine, after putting those rigids in my rear bumper I have no need for the pod or the light

I’d keep the hitpod pod on the taco.

I’d be swapping my older vled reverse bar on the tundra (that was from my taco years ago) for the multi function one. But yes, could recoop some $

Very good. It’s good info thanks.

I’m real happy with their products. Also I’ve had real good luck dealing with them over the phone. A+

Meso has always gotten back to when reaching out for assistance. A+

They are the best IMO. On previous trucks I tried about 10 diff brands of bulbs and I was so tired of how poorly they all performed that I was one order away from going back to stock. Finally tried VLEDS and they blew me away. I’ve spent probably 2 grand there now on various things for multiple vehicles lol. Super high quality stuff. I use them for bulbs and “small” applications, and Rigid for larger aux type lights. They (the two companies) are geared towards very different markets so I appreciate what they both offer. Great stuff.

I had the same issue. For 3 years 16-18 before I found Meso and vled. Went through dozens of shit LED’s. Now that’s all I use besides OEM led headlights
I know that’s all I wanted in my tundra

Agreed! DD, GTR, Mori, Lasfit, Auxito, Alla, Sylvania, superbrightLEDs, and a few others….whether it was the poor color, terrible brightness, bad reliability, or a tragic mix of the 3, I sent them all back if I was in the time frame where I could. I too run the oem leds up front and all VLEDS bulbs elsewhere at this point.
