I've been waiting on a medical waiver that my recruiter told me would be received a week after I went to MEPS, that was three weeks ago. He's been saying that the Chief Petty Officer for the recruiting region has been "raising hell" for it every time I message him but I still haven't had any updates. Would it be a good idea to message the CPO directly for an update or would that just fuck everything up?

I just really want to know if I got it or not at this point. Even if it was denied, I would rather hear that than nothing.

So can I assume from the lack of responses that this would not be the best course of action?

Look... Jumping the chain will always piss people off. What's probably going to happen is you message the Chief directly, he doesnt respond, instead he goes to your recruiters Chief and then your recruiter gets yelled at and is going to care less about you then he does now. Military shit takes time.

However, it is your time and your life. If you feel you have to raise hell to get acceptable result, do it. Just be prepared for the fallout.

You're not dealing with overseas customer service reps trying to make a return on an LED bulb that was DOA.

Time to learn a new dance and unlearn instant gratification.

Good luck with whatever you are trying to accomplish.

Not so much a need of instant gratification, more like an appreciation of being given a timeframe and having that be honored and not lied to multiple times about something that I was told would be so simple. I understand the government takes it's time to do anything, I was just given false information and would have preferred to have not been told anything rather than been lied to

If you want a quicker response show up in person, show you care a little bit more and much harder to ignore than an email

It's getting to be the end of the fiscal year and just after graduation is their busy time of year with all the fresh grads realizing they need a job. The combo means they have more hot bodies than they need coming through the door. They will then ignore the warm bodies like those that need medical waivers. If you show that you really give a shit by continuing to show up in person you can get upgraded to a hot body they might care about.

    enlisted recruiter here.

we've been waiting at least a week for the results on a few waivers. they do get backed up this time of year. the recruiter may not know unless they call MEPS and ask. not everyone has access to that waiver system, heck, one of our folks finally got access after a year of repeatedly requesting it.
