Good for you OP! Sometimes (actually many times), it's the simple stuff!

But I am curious, did your little Speed Racer shift stunt cause the fuse to blow or was this just a bizarre coincidence?

I would love to see the wiring diagram on that because how can a back up light fuse cause an issue like this.:confused::confused:

Perhaps replacing the part caused the fuse to blow??? Glad it worked out and good thread!

So this is a huge guess but im thinking my aftermarket trailer wiring harness could be the culprit. Few days back when i was researching i read something about people having a p0705 code for tail lights that shorted out or something. After i read that i went and checked all my connections to make sure they were tight and did a much cleaner job because that harness is connected to the tail lights. Im not sure if a wire mustve got loose and shorted something out. I redid everything really well though so if thats what caused it hopefully its fixed for good.

    glad you got it fixed!
I was going to ask, why did the fuse blow. Regardless, it's still much cheaper and easier to fix a bad connection, than to replace the transmission.

    Excellent.

You do know that the Toyota dealer would have found the blown fuse that caused the issue

Sometime after they installed the new transmission that miraculously had the same issue.

Somewhat related to the last comment:

My sister suffered a hydraulic clutch failure in her Subaru (the pedal went to the floor). Dealer replaced the clutch then wrote a note that after the new clutch was installed, the clutch pedal went to the floor, so they very generously replaced the clutch master cylinder for free. Took a few months but she finally got the $2000 clutch cost refunded...
