I’m still buying cd’s then rip them to my puter and then to an iPod or flash drive. I have people that I met in chat rooms from back in the day that we still exchange cd’s . Gotta spread the METAL to the masses every way possible. :headbang:

fuck yeah. i modded an iPod with a 256GB micro-SD, it has my entire music collection on it and plays nicely with my truck. a lot of rare rips from vinyl and tape that aren't on any streaming service. plus a shit ton of live Maiden and Radiohead bootlegs.

My computer stopped accepting cd's after about 1000. Also, if they're promo types with no bar code they get put in as anonymous file with no name to identify them. You can put it in later but you have to do that to every song too. That really pisses me off. Is there another program I can use besides microsoft media player to store and play? Also kinda peeved that new computers don't come with cd players anymore. I need to upgrade to play new games.

I'm not sure if this is what you're getting at, but I use mp3tag to get all my organization done the way I want it. Like, if your music rips as track 1, track 2, untitled, etc, you just enter the album and it fills in all of the info and artwork.

Yeah but say you get a demo disc at a show, MS media player won't recognize it and will put it in an anonymous file, unnamed and untracked.

I’ve had a bunch that would do that even if store bought. I think it might have something to do with an anti piracy file or something similar on the disc.

Yeah, I suppose if it's not an official release by anyone, there's no info to go by. It's essentially unknown media. I was going more by a known album by a known artist but without names can be filled in relatively easily

This makes much sense. While not my go to per se, when I used to go to the office I would use my phone for Youtube and listen to stuff there, so I would get suggestions etc that way. But like you said if I found something I liked I would go buy the discs.

Juggling discs, no argument here. I try to keep to a few at a time in the truck plus my flash drive with about 20 or 30 rare ones. I just use the jewel cases, never owned a CD book and never will.

Plus 1 re the no more CD drive. Grrrr.

Might be, or in some cases the discs were just so old it didn't exist. I still have ones I bought in the 1980s

I've run into this where I had a promo copy of something that actually did have the information. Pretty sure it was Powerman 5000 "Anyone For Doomsday?"

Well according to metal sucks news, a certain venue or venues in Wisconsin are no longer letting you have a pit. Only in designated areas which to me is stupid. That’s the whole purpose of getting down on the floor right around the middle. I guess some wuss bag in the upper management thought someone is gonna get hurt and sue the place.

There's quite a bit of that going on right now. Barricades at the front are also becoming more common to stop stage diving - a lot of people have actually gotten seriously hurt lately. Not saying I agree with it, but I understand it.

Don’t forget about Chris Cornell , not sure what was going on with him. I remember seeing him on a morning talk show 2 weeks before his death and he seemed excited about going back out on tour. Then around 2 weeks later they found him dead.

Bennington, Strnad and so many others. Between suicide and OD's all genre's of music have a long history of it. Personal demons aren't cured by fame and wealth.

Oh goodness, if we're talking about that for sure. Scott Weiland as well.

Sad I had a ticket to finally see Linkin Park, about 10 days prior was Chester's death.

Agreed that stardom isn't a fix for things necessarily. In some cases it's the worst thing, provides the financial resources to go all out on addictive behaviour.
