    Just recently bought tickets to see Devin Townsend live in March; I'm really excited about it, mostly because he's kinda outside the genre of music I normally listen to. He's I guess prog rock? But he's done some more metal stuff in the past under Strapping Young Lad that I'll link in here too. Dude's really good imo and I'm pretty stoked. Anyone else in here ever heard of him? I have trouble finding anyone who has

    I had a friend show me the Devin Townsend Band about 4 years ago as a senior in HS, at first I wasn't really into it, just seemed really generic stoner, almost Primus like (he started me off with Earth Day, lol) but I liked the sound. I didn't start to really get into it until I found Ocean Machine, that album really got me into it. I didn't find strapping until doing more research.
    I had gotten into nu metal in middle school, so a lot of what I listened to was generic Disturbed, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, FFDP, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Godsmack, Slipknot, etc. then as I was going through highschool moved more into industrial territory and was trying to find some new, fresh stuff. So for me, prog rock type music was pretty different, the only thing I can even think to compare it to from my music library at the time was probably Tool, and they don't really share any similarities and are not really high on my list either.
    My husband @Slashaar isn't really into him, but he's coming with me anyways :p we'll see if it rubs off on him a little
