Thin metal with a sharp point which got folded back on itself. Any ideas on what it is? Anything to be concerned about? Thanks

No idea what that is, but I have never had anything that big come out in diff oil by itself in any of trucks on routine oil change. Always been clean or completely full of metal on diffs I knew had issues. Odd? Anyone have any idea what that piece is? It's not a shard, you have OR package?

Lol, my dad collects pennies, give you $1 shipped for the 1944 penny :)

Ya. Looks like a piece from clutch pack retainment clip. But I saw that in my dodge rear...which is a common failure for my truck.

Might want to pull it open and inspect, my Diff grenaded when the ring gear bolts backed out and shredded not only the R&P but the whole housing.

After talking to the guys at Nitro gear they said its not unheard of for this to happen.

Think I’ll make the time to take to dealer to get it checked out....if nothing gets solved, at least I’ll have it documented before out of warranty

    I’m at 34,600 or so...
I’ll have to check but isn’t drivetrain warranty like 60,000 miles?

    3 yrs / 36k is std I believe.

Maybe 5/60 on driveline. With the 20's coming soon, you're rapidly approaching the 5 yrs, depending on your in service date

That's either / or, not both.

But check your personal paperwork for your exact warranty.

Or entering your VIN in the Toyota website might give the answer.
