I noticed almost since I got the truck that there was no metal 'flapper' valve on the fuel inlet like on most cars. When you remove the fuel cap - there is basically a 'hole' straight down into the tank. On most cars there is a small metal sprung 'flapper' valve. I would guess it is to help keep small objects from accidentally falling in.

Am I missing mine? Or does Toyota not install those for some reason?

    thanks

They don't have one. They are not need.
They would only increase the cost of production at zero benefit to the consumer.

Most all new cars and trucks have to have the filler cap on and tight for the emission control an to keep the Check Engine light off.
