metal on metal sound when turning steering wheel

    hi everyone
    i have a 05 ac offroad
    i noticed yesterday that when the truck is off "not running"
    if i wiggle the steering wheel back and forth there is a metal on metal sound coming from the drivers side front end .
    the truck never did this before and i just wanted some imput from anyone that has had this happened and has fixed it .

    i noticed a similar sound when i am driving, i was told it just my rubber bushing but would like to hear some input on this as well

    either way you still have alittle play before it locks



    ya im going to take it all apart tomorrow and get a rental car to get to work . ill update with what i find .

    Im getting there......
    Hey you guys I had a similar problem awhile back, if it is a loud clanking the problem is that your rack and pinion has as loose linkage have a dealer check out where it maybe and its a cheap easy fix. They said a bushing was warn causing the looseness

    It's not so much as a loud clanking noise, it's mostly a squealing noise. johnnym could you post some pics of what you find??

    I did a little investigating and it looks like its the rack and pinion possible loose linkage . Thanks for the pointers foco
