Hey meth friends, is there any issue mounting the pump upside down / inverted? This is my mock up of mounting locations. Gonna make a bracket for the tank to basically butt up to the airbox without actually putting any holes in it.

There wouldn't be any problem with that. Only requirement is the hoses where they connect to the pump are lower than the meth tank.

Got it. Lines into pump are definitely lower than the tank.

If I'm planning on only using boost for controlling spray at the moment, can I leave the blue injector wire for the IPW control disconnected?

Used the old air injection pump mount to mount my pump in the back of the engine bay.

With tank and nozzle mounted. Excuse the temporary ghetto fabbed brackets and zip ties.

Spent some time playing around with meth today. The stage 3 controller is pretty easy to use, but one thing they skimped out on is an indicator for read-only mode. You can switch to read-only and disable injection, but there is no indicator that you're in this mode. That could be ugly if you tune for meth and forget you're in read only. The only way to tell which mode you're in is to do a WOT run and watch for injection. Probably wont be an issue for most, but I was playing around with it so I can data log with meth and without meth Other than that minor gripe and the gameboy graphics, this is a great unit.

What kind of AFRs is everyone one seeing at WOT and are you all set to hit 100% within your peak boost. Using boost control only and single 375ml nozzle, If I set 100% injection at my peak boost 10psi, my AFRs peg to rich the minimum gauge reading 8.5. It's like the good old pig rich days of factory TRD tune. Still, I notice more power on the butt dyno and it pulls like a freight train when the meth sprays.

If I set 100% injection to say 20 psi, and meth spray starts at 6 psi, then at my max boost of 10 psi, injection is about 29% and my AFRs are closer to 11.5.

That makes me think the 375 nozzle might be overkill for my setup. I want my Afrs tuned without meth, but I also don't want my AFRs pegging to 8.5 if there is a better balance to be had someone in-between...say 9.5 or 10.

What is everyone seeing for their WOT AFRs with water/meth?

Mine hits my gauge min reading of ten under wot so it's probably going lower than that. My truck pulls hard too but if it's that rich it's gotta be losing some power for sure.

Please keep in mind the stoich values are different for methanol and gasoline. The "AFR" talk is really leading to a lot of confusion and misunderstanding. Lambda is a much more appropriate unit of measure as it's universal across all fuel types regardless of their stoich value..

    For instance:

    Gasoline: 14.7
    E85: 9.8
    Methanol: 6.4

Each of the above is Lambda = 1

However when you have a gas engine running some percentage of gasoline which likely has some degree of ethanol in it too, combined with some amount of methanol injection, it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to say what your wideband is doing as they assume (generally speaking) a stoich value of 14.7 for gasoline. Simply put, when you're combusting 3 different fuel types, each with their own stoich value all in unknown quantities relative to one another, you're really not measuring the actual AFR of the combusted gasses with your wideband (as it again) is reporting based on a 14.7 stoich value.

Simply monitoring/logging in Lambda erases all of that confusing mess. 1.0Lambda is 1.0Lambda regardless of what fuel or mixture of fuel is used.

For instance if you fill up your tank with E85 (with a tune) and have the truck idle. Your wideband is going to report a AFR of 14.7ish. However the actual AFR would be 9.8ish.

Just think this is worth mentioning :)

Good stuff, was just going to ask about that.
So there’s really no way of knowing what amount of injection is optimal without having the truck on a dyno?

Thanks for that input! Once you mentioned it it makes total sense and I wondered how I'd didn't see it before.

There's some general rules of thumb you can go by depending on your setup (N/A, S/C, Turbo). Each of these will obviously require differences in fueling. If you're within the ball-park of the widely accepted mixtures, you'll be pretty much there. If you really want to squeeze every ounce out of the setup, a dyno is the tool you need.

With that said though I've found Cam timing, and ignition timing have a much more profound affect on output than does AFR alone.

So if my gauge can be configured to lambda is it possible to tune more accurately with meth?

Seems like this would be the way to go.

That explains why my AFR gauge is so wonky during meth injection. Yesterday had a lot of pegging to 8 5 minimum on the gauge but a couple tests today, the the dial would bounce rapidly and then go steady at 15. I assumed the speedhut afr gauge just couldn't keep up with the change in readings and was tapping out sometimes. Thank you for the knowledge share.

I think most of us in this thread are already running it.

Someone (@White lightning boosted, or @Roostfactor) may have a snow performance discount code for Tacomaworld or call Snow and ask.

Otherwise, someone has to organize anyone who's interested and organize a GB.

When I ordered my Snow kit last month, I asked about a discount for forum members and the guy said they weren't running any promos at the time :(

Hey methheads. I am dying to get my new fancy AEM nozzle in, it's really taking its time in the mail...

Just wanted to poll people about what their ml/min are. I think I'm running more than anyone else - 700ml/min once it maxes out. That's currently with three separate nozzles. I'm considering leaving two nozzles in when I put the new AEM nozzle in. So that would bring my total to like 900ml/min. I'm fairly certain that won't be "too much" although could be past the point of noticeable returns.

edit: Also was wondering if anyone has experienced "ice blasting" of the rotors in extremely cold weather. I was worried about that up here, but it seems to be fairly not an issue based on last time I had the rotors apart - aside from the fact that my coating on the rotors is almost all gone.
