I've got Method racing 301's on my 02 DC Pre Runner and I'm having a hard time keeping tape weights on the wheels . The longest they have stayed attached to the inside of the wheel has been 6 months and the quickest they lasted was maybe 3 months

Today I went to my local Firestone to get my tires rotated and balanced and the tech informed me three of the wheels had no tape weights on them but showed evidence that they were there prior

The last time I had these wheels balanced was March of this year but started seeing wear on the tire and vibration was In July this year . Each time the tech uses an abrasive wheel to clean the area for the weights and then use brake clean to clean the area completely . I even had the techs use duct tape over the weights the last two times . This is a dirt track trick to keep from losing the weights

Any idea why these wheel weights won't stay on the wheels ???

On my old 3/4 Ton truck I was running 20x10’s wrapped with 35” mud tires. I had the same issue and no one could give me an answer… ended up using “sand bags” inside of the tire. Not exactly sure, but to my knowledge… the bags are specifically designed for this. The bag breaks apart in the first few miles. And as the wheel rotates, centrifugal force moves the sand to the areas in the tire that are not balanced properly and stays there. Never had another vibration or issue after. Worked like a charm. Most places probably will have no idea what this is… you’ll have to go to a commercial truck service center. They are common on larger scale vehicles. Hope this is a helpful solution. Keep us posted on how you make out!

Chuck!!! Don't use brake cleaner. My guy said it breaks down the adhesive on the weights. Clean the area well, use some sand paper to lightly scuff, and glue it. No cleaning solutions.
