Jesus, ever notice how when you really want to do get an item installed, something always gets in the way??

First, I have been looking at my new Pioneer AVH-x2500bt head unit for over a week as well as the parking brake micro-bypass, taunting me from the kitchen table. Was waiting for my dash kit and wiring harness to be delivered (was out for delivery on Friday) when good ole Blizzard Nemo stopped that from happening. Received everything last night and wired up the harnesses and bypass, go out to the truck and remove the existing radio, wire the bluetooth mic up to the rear view mirror area, install the spliced RCA cable for the backup camera feed - getting pretty excited by this point! Plug everything together and ensure it all works (which it does), go inside to grab the dash kit and realize one of the lower locking plastic tabs was broken off! Came that way from the factory .

Now I am a patient man, but this is getting ridiculous....could I just JB weld the tab back on and have at it? What would be the best recommended way of reattaching this tab without worrying about it in the future? I know the correct method would be to send it back to the Amazon dealer and request a new one, but I cannot be driving around with my new equipment exposed like it is - easy picking for a would be theif.

I had a defect Metra kit from the factory too. Top tabs were 1/3 as long as they should have been. Was like pulling teeth to get Crutchfield to believe (even after sending them pics) that it was a bad part.

Well I think I am going to find a scosche kit and order it - this Metra kit sucks ass big time. After I got the broken tab JB welded together, I go out to snap it in and guess what, the top tabs are not long enough.....I snap the bottoms in and then go to push the top side in and have to almost pound on it and never get them to seat! I reused the factory clips because the Metra supplied ones were not long enough to reach the mounting points on the tabs - they have way to much wiggle room.

Question about the scosche kit - do I use the factory radio mounts or does the kit come with it's own? The reason I ask is because my new headunit sits slightly crooked with the OEM brackets (must have bent them somehow?). I refuse to use the plastic mounts that came with the Metra kit and need some insight. If I have to reuse the OEM brackets, I will just take them out and bend them to straighten the unit back up

Comes with its own plastics mounts that seem flimsy till everything is together. It's a solid design

The stock metal mounts work great, but not with Video as the angel is WAY off for proper viewing. You can modify the stock mounts by cutting and bending. I just used the plastic ones, never had issues.. You'll be happy with the Scosche kit.
