Metra TYIP-01 iPod interface trouble

I order and just received this unit after hearing good reviews on here. My problem is that it seams like it's not compatible with the JBL unit? I have a 2009 Double Cab Tacoma with the JBL stereo. I installed it following the instructions (not the best) and the unit is getting power and my ipod recognizes it but when I hit the cd button on the stereo nothing happens. I called tech for less and they said that it should work and referred me to metra but they were already closed when I called. Is there something I am missing, is anyone out there using this unit with the JBL stereo? Thanks

i just tried to hook mine up and had the same problem, but i don't have the jbl system. I called metra and they told me i have a defective product? I'm sending it back for a new one...
