2008 DC TRD Sport - Black Sand Pearl
TacomaWorld sticker, DRL mod, running boards, roof rack, remote start / security alarm, marker/turn signal mod, map light with dome light mod, TRD seat covers, rear spring TSB
My 08 Sport was from Fremont CA.

Too bad the plant is closed.
    Around 4700 jobs.
It also estimated that Nummi supports an additional 18,800 jobs at more than 1,100 supply firms throughout the state with an indirect payroll of $904 million.
Other sources have estimated the Nummi effect as even higher, from 30,000 to as many as 50,000 jobs."

I had some discussions a while ago who thought the VIN starts with:
    1 - US
    2 - Canada
    3 - Mexico
    4 - Germany
    5 - Japan

    NOT SO.

A vehicle with the first digit of 1,4,5 is U.S. made. These are the designations/description of each VIN number digit:
    1 - Country of origin
2 - World Make Identifier (if your Taco doesn't start have a "T" here you brought a fake :p)
3 - World Make Identifier (how this is different from digit #2 I'm not sure)
4 - Brake System, Body Style
    5 & 6 - Line Chassis Style
    7 - Restraint System
    8 - Engine Type
    9 - Check digit
    10 - Model Year
    11 - Plant
    12 through 17 - Production Sequence / Serial Number

I'm trying to find out from which plant mine was made. Digit #11 for me is "Z". And digit #8 (engine type) is "N"....whatever that means.

My 05 was made in US and the 09 is made in Mexico. The 09 have a lot more rattle and noise coming from everywhere in the cab. I don't think that this is the mexican workers fault. This is Toyota fault, for letting the guard down. The where so eager to become #1 and they forgot what brought them here. THE QUALITY of theirs product. I am glad that they got a hand slap with all this recall crap. I am confident tat things will be straiten out and the quality will improve regardless where they will built them. With US government owning part of GM and the rest they will have to do theirs best. We, the consumers, are the winners here. Will they, ever, be perfect ??? =IMPOSSIBLE.

My 2010 DC TRD Sport was built in the USA, where in the US, I dunno. Not sure if NUMMI was already closed then. According to a post a page back the plant code in my serial is "Z". It was manufactured Feb 2010.

Damn mine was built in Mex, i think theres got to be an HECHO EN MEXICO sticker somewhere. Well the only way to comfort myself is by thinking, well the mexican indians built those pyramids that have lasted 1000years so hopefully that craftsmanship has made it to my TACO. Also I can say I have an authentic TACO!!!!
