MGM mismatching paint job

This thread made me look at my truck a bit closer. Doors are fine, but grille surround is a drastically different colour form the adjacent panels.

 

A little late to the thread but I would bet that truck did not come from Toyota like that, I would guess that it was wrecked at the dealer, they fixed it and sold it as a new one, YES, this happens, how do I know ? my brother worked at a dealership for many years.

When a customer asks a salesman if a certain vehicle has been wrecked and the salesman says not to my knowledge, knowing that the vehicle came from the body shop the day before, that told me everything I needed to know.

OP, YES, you got screwed. Anything is possible and I hope I`m wrong about the dealership.

If it was me, I would take it back and demand another new truck just like you bought. and if they refuse, get a lawyer and get you a free truck and some cash for your hassles. Selling you a wrecked truck as a new one is fraud.

 

Too lazy to sift through 10 pages - any update from OP? Last I heard the dealership acknowledged there was a problem with the paint.

 

What about all the other trucks posted with the same exact issue? Even as far back as the 2nd gen trucks. We're they all wrecked in the same exact spot as well?

It happened to me in Louisiana, new GMC Sonoma truck, i was told if it was under a certain dollar value it can be repaired prior to being sold / titled to customer. I bought while it was raining, hard to tell difference in color, 1 month later when showers stopped and I was able to detail it, i notified the color difference (it was gmc dark blue ). I explained to them, the paint work should have been disclosed to me in good faith and let me make the decision. I asked them to buy the truck back, they refused, so i suggested once more before i have to seek legal representation, i told them i was willing to have truck replaced with new one, or walk away with refund minus some fees that we agreed upon, and it would not be mentioned again. They took the later, let me walk free and clear, and the payments i made while driving truck is the only thing that i was out of pocket of, i had financed 100% (no down payment)
