Sorry to see this OP. Mismatched paint is not acceptable. I would take it back to the dealership.

If they repaint it, make sure the paint has a warranty - not that they take it to Maaco

Hardly noticeable, I'd be suspicious of a dealer/factory paint repair.

Lots of people here with MGM color Tacomas, I wonder how bad of a problem this is or if a dealer tried to repaint it at some point before.

Also I wonder if the Japanese built 4Runners have ever had the same issue with the MGM color as well.

Look in here and see if you notice any other Tacoma MGM owners with that issue.

ETA: I'm guessing the dealership just fucked you over.

I would contact the dealer where it was purchased and show them the pictures. The truck has had the door and fender repainted. A reputable body shop can look at the truck and confirm the repaint. I know it was new when you purchased, but run a carfax on it, maybe it was involved in some kind of accident on a test drive. If you find that is true, I would give the dealer 2 options, give me a new truck or deal with my lawyer. They can't sell you a damaged truck as new and not disclose the repairs.

They have a paint meter, you just place it on the paint and it gives you the paint thickness,

If it was done during factory painting I would expect the color to be off but the gloss on the paint would be the same. Your truck seems to have a different gloss on the paint in addition to the off color. Paint robot must have went on a hydraulic break or something. Never ever pick up your car in the dark.

Again, sorry to see this OP. Please keep us posted as to what the dealership says and how your investigation proceeds.

I would be all over the dealership like stink on poop. I worked for a Chevrolet dealership for a few years. I personally seen Tahoe's that were damaged coming in on the train from Mexico and repaired the customer never told. The dealership was eventually closed.

Please note I am not saying that the dealership did this, but it is something that they should fix .

Is that that new 2 tone paint they are raving about? JK op. I would definitely go back to the dealer you purchased it from. you can also confirm it was repainted with a electronic paint thickness gauge, or look at the jams, most times they don't paint them when repainting doors. You spent way to much on that truck to accept that defect.

The truck was def. re-sprayed. They did the cutoff at the door line and then tried to blend the front fender. They should have blended the rear door. Horrible paint job.

Dealer/service mishaps happen quite a bit.

If the service dept. damaged the bedside and/or rear passenger door while re-aligning the bed, they may have painted it or had it painted.... A dealer will NEVER 'report themselves' to CarFax for a repair 'they' caused.

its likely due to the angle the paint gun was at when it was sprayed. metallic colors are very difficult to match so they shine the same. the doors are likely painted off-body, and in a different area, and possibly by different robots for each one, depending on how the assembly line is set up.
it also reacts differently in different lighting conditions.. the sun may not be hitting it as much in one area, plus how it reflects off the different angles of the bodywork.. that being said, yours does seem to be a slightly different shade at a defined cutoff point(door)
make sure it wasnt painted... you'd be surprised how many have been touched up before they leave the assembly line or dealer lot.
my MGM even has a small imperfection in the grill, where it looks like it was sprayed just a little less over a silver basecoat, only really noticeable in the sunlight.

complain about it to any dealer.. the truck is under warranty. it doesn't have to go back to where it was purchased. they didnt build the truck, they just sold it.
