Over a certain % of the value of the vehicle they either have to disclose it and can not sell it as new (class 2) or they can't sell it at all (class 3). Class 3 usually has to do with the structural integrity of the vehicle though. 7k worth of damage is not going to be sold as a new unit.

The facility you are referring to in Midlothian is called MidTex. Also the units are shipped to 5 states not 7. It's the Gulf States region. Vehicles being shot on rail is extremely rare. I've seen more shot on trucks than rail. The distribution center you're talking about in Houston is Gulf States Toyota, also a 5 state region. They have a processing center there.

I stand corrected on the 7 states...the ones that were shot that I know about were shot when the rail cars were sitting waiting to be pulled into midtex. Most common issues are spray paint and damage from jumping chocks.

Metallics are a bitch to match. The color varies with pressure at gun, distance from work material, pattern overlap, and number of times you've ejaculated that day. Quite possible the robot rubbed one out before it completed the truck. They aren't that great at multitasking.

Lexus rarely jump chock. It happens a lot more with domestic OEM's than it does with "imports". I've seen some spray paint damage but it's pretty rare considering how much graffiti is on the rail cars.

I know the manager for the trucking company over there very well.

Anyway that has nothing to do with the OP's issue. I have a MGM also and haven't noticed a color discrepancy.

If it bothers you that much, get it fixed. That would fall under warranty, that is a legitimate defect. But be advised that warranty does not pay paint technicians very well, so most of the time they'll rush through it. Make sure they detrim everything and not tape it all up. Also your adding mils of paint makes it more prone to chips & scratches, just fyi...

    Makes me think of this.

Both cube sides are the same color. Cover the line between them with pinky and see...

Try with your truck OP! :D

I'm half kidding but kinda serious, could be the door line and the lighting angle making an optical illusion :notsure:

Sorry man not being a dick but how did you not notice that when you test drove it and looked at it/bought it originally? seems to be different in all sorts of lighting/angles.

    Hope it gets resolved somehow

Cover the line in the middle and it shows both colors are actually just one.

The two boxes that the arrows are pointing to, they are the same shade of grey. But because of the line between them and other background of photo, we see them as two different colors, unless blocking the line with an object
