Sad thing is it’s much more common since wire manufacturers switched to plant bases insulation from petroleum based.

Almost like they had a plan to sell more wire.

I actually recently watched a video on this with a first gen Tundra. It caused the belt to skip timing and so the truck wouldn't run right. Luckily for him he didn't have any engine damage and was able to put the belt back into the right spot.

Mice have been chewing wires since long before soy based insulation.

I know. Just about every lawsuit involving this (to my knowledge) has been thrown out. Just about every vehicle revival video I watch has rodent issues with the wiring. I've also seen rodent issues outside of the manufacturers that have been listed in said lawsuits. The explanation there was that they start chewing on the wires and end up liking the current that goes through them, which isn't enough to hurt them. I don't know how true that is, but that is the explanation they gave to my grandmother several years ago for her Subaru.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
    Have you tried the electronic rat/mice traps....battery operated...Lowes store...pricy...under$40.00?
It works..like a electric fence...only it is on the floor of the traps ..

You will need to bait them... be sure to check often...! Or the rat/mice will disintegrate and destroy the trap...it happen to my last one...

Living with nature...who is stronger? Man can live with nature...but “nature” cannot live with man..

    all tore up already
Attracting mice to a vehicle to kill them just seems counterintuitive. End the root cause of why they are getting in, usually food unless vehicle is parked for extended time. And deter them, which is why things like dryer sheets and moth balls and especially predator scent work. A mouse isnt going to go in an area that smells like coyote piss
