You can positively say that there is no soy in the plastic used in the insulation? It has become an industry trend for wiring manufacturers.

You are absolutely correct on the oil coating. My whole family does this to their vehicles every year and we routinely leave our vehicles parked in the bush or rural areas. Never even seen a sign of rodents on any of the vehicles (no stashed nuts or tracks or stuffed nesting materials) They would have to clean themselves for days just touching anything under the hoods of our vehicles.

Not sure what vehicles currently use soy oil in their plastics. There seems to be a number of articles on soy being used on wiring insulation. There’s even lawsuits and quite a few articles regarding this. example: https://nhoilundercoating.com/soy-based-wiring-how-to-help-keep-mice-out/

Hey, I feel yer pain ... Especially when it's one of those 'It doesn't have to be this way' things. Isn't there some sort of legal recourse you can take for a neighbor that has a rat infestation and refuses to do anything about it? Dept. of Health or something?
On the other hand, I've seen the pics of piles of garbage, covered with rats that have been left by the homeless in various parts of LA .. and no one seems too concerned about it, so why should they care about your 'little problem' right?
Maybe you could sneak over and conceal some rat-pellets where yer neighbor might not notice and keep 'feeding' his problem?

Yes, but only if the rat is willing to testify.

The mice also HATE the perfume smell of "Bounce" laundry sheets and the like.

Place a couple laundry sheets under your seats.

You probably already have them in your house and they smell good too. o_O

Ah! that's right ... I remember reading about that.
How often should one replace the sheets?

Back in 2016, my dad rented a UHAUL van to finish moving the last of our excess furniture into storage; It was a brand new Ford Transit and I believe he was the first renter. He stopped at the supermarket on the way to the storage place and felt something crawl up his leg in while still in the van; He immediately freaked out, grabbed at his leg (he was wearing jeans) and caught the unknown animal. He pulled it out and it turned out to be a mouse; Unfortunately, he'd clamped down on it so hard with his hand that he'd mortally wounded it. The mouse was still alive, but in a great deal of pain, so he placed it under the front tire of the van and performed a Coup De Grace. He believes that the UHAUL van was parked in a warehouse for a long time before going into service, and that's where the mouse got in.

I have had them chew right through Bounce Dryer Sheets and Irish Spring soap, Peppermint seems to be pretty effective though.

I've been using this so far ... Have a brand new rig and was horrified to find a 'starter-nest' going on under the hood after sitting in the shop for a week or less. The bottle says 'long-lasting' but they don't say 'how often' ... So I've been going by my own nose.
So far, it's been about once a month... I've spritzed under the hood twice now, and so far, so good...
