Guys wanted to get some idea from you guys. Called and ordered some Michelin AT2 tires for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 2wd stock suspension. After using the search feature on here found that 265-70-17's would fit. Took it today and they test fitted one tire and called me stating that it wouldn't fit that it was hitting the upper control arm. So i told them to put the tire back on and that i would come and pick it up. Anyone have this tire on a similar truck without issue? really want to go up one size. Any ideas on what might be the issue?

Are they willing to show you what part doesn’t fit? Not that I’m calling foul on the shop’s part, but I know some shops will say it doesn’t fit because it’s not OEM or they just don’t think it’ll work at full travel for liability reasons. I had 265/75/16 on my 2nd gen with zero problems, and to my understanding the 3rd gens have even more flexibility on stock suspension than the 2nd gens do.

Your truck comes stock with a 265 65 17 and you are moving up to a 265 70 17. The width of 265 is the same on each tire so no way they can rub on the upper control arm. I'm calling bs on whatever shop you took the truck too! All you changed was the height of the tire not the width!

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
They should have worked, heck there are guys on here that have tried doing 285s on stock setups.

Actually 285's will rub on stock 17" sport wheels because of the width you need a spacer with stock wheels!

I was thinking about ordering a set of the michelin at2 265/70/r17 for my 2020 sport 4x4 when I came upon this post.I was wondering if any suspension gurus in the know could tell me if the reason for the 265/70/17 not fitting this members truck could have to do with his truck being a 2wd and not a 4wd?
