I just picked up some new LTX M/S2 tires in P265/70R17.

On the ride home from the shop the tires cornered and drove a ton smoother than my GoodYear Silent Armor. It is snowy and slushy around here due to a foot of snow and had no problem with traction. Maybe tonight I will test them out on the roads and see how they really perform.

FYI Discount Tire is doing a 70 dollar mail in rebate until the end of January.

    Here is an update.

I went driving down some icy and snow packed roads and these tires MS2 performed the best of any tire I have driven on. Also did quite a bit of highway driving and they are super quiet and smooth which is important to me because I have some long road trips planned.

I dont particullarly like the look but since I went from 265/65R17 to 265/70R17 they look a ton bigger and make the truck look beefier.

Used my m/s2's in snow and ice this weekend. Good feedback and response had. Predictable and confidence inspiring. Everything you want when in slick conditions

Good choice. I had these on my F150 for many years and they are still the best tire I've ever driven.

Anyone know what the biggest Michelin LTX M/S2 is that I can get in 17"? Thanks.

rcsb jon - Yes, I've searched on tirerack. That's why I asked the question.

Have you gone to tirerack and and tried to find out the answer to my question? I'm not seeing any way to search ANY width and ANY aspect ratio for 17" Michelins. And there are over a hundred combinations of width and aspect ratio for 17" tires. At a minute a search, it would take me a couple of hours. I was simply hoping someone knew the answer. And I'm guessing that you are not that someone...

Nice thread! Been reading up on some of the posts and seems either of these tires is a good choice. I've been contemplating which one to go with.

My 285/70/17 BFG A/T's have treated me well over the past 4 years and just over 50,000 miles. But, due to my lack of off road driving and majority of freeway driving, I'm going back to stock size. Based on what I've noticed I should be gaining about 4 mpg back (which is now my priority as it's road trip time!!!).

Did you go back to stock size? I don't think that was your problem. The BFG's are heavy and the tread offers lots of rolling resistance compared to stock or highway tires. Switching to MS2's in the same size as your BFG's will get your MPG's back closer to stock because they are lighter than the BFG's and have very little rolling resistance.

After a few months and several thousand miles these LTX M/S2 tires have been perfect. The thing I like about them most is the confidence they give in cornering and braking. I also went a size up to 265/70R17 and I have no rub but its pretty close.

Read all 14 pages lol, wonderful insight. I currently bought a 10 Taco DC Off Road 2x4 with
    Yokohoma Geolanders H/T-S in 265/70/16 - they're LOUD AS FVCK !!!
When pulling off my curb, they do rub the liner, nothing crazy just saying
    they do -

In the past, Ive always just bought a decent tire to fit my needs UNTIL for my 2000
Chevy Express 2500, i bought my 1st set of Michelin LTX MS/2 - WOWWW Ive never everbeen blown away with such an amazing tire, Ive never really cared to think about tires until I owned the MS/2s. It was such an amazing experience that Im typing this thread.

So for my Taco, without question im buying them again. The only Q I have is,
I do dirt trails, commuting and rain, rarely if ever snow (california).
Is the Michelin P the better way to go? I mostly commute and will never tow or carry heavy loads.

I WANT quiet, good looks and tread life, such as my LTX MX/2s have blessed me with.
Just need more depth of info in the P version of the tire.

I also like the white lettering out, and cant find a pic of them.

Im also getting the 16s TRD wheels and will pair the new set together, and my TSB
    recall has already been conducted.

    Thanks Fellas -

Based on what I've read, the P metric is the way to go for these trucks. The major advantage to the E load is a stiffer/thicker sidewall for abrasion/puncture resistance on rocks (which carries with it a stiffer ride). Other than that, it sounds like the advantages are in the P. Based on your uses and desired characteristics, it sounds to me like P would suit you fine. Nicer ride and much lighter- maintaining a closer to stock MPG (if not the same weight). You gonna go with the 265-70 or 265-75? The 75's will give you another 1/2" in vehicle height (1" larger dia. tire). Lots of guys say that is the way to go.
