Gotcha. Thanks. My attention to detail leaves much to be desired today.

It seems as though the MS2 is the favored choice on this thread, but the few A/T2s users who did have them had good thing stop say about them as well. In the 30 miles I have logged so far, they are real quite / handle on rails / and track good throughout the rain... I am pleased with my choice of the A/T2s. I'd have no problem running the MS2s, but I wanted a more aggressive tread pattern for aesthetics.

I went with the 2 - ply, as opposed to the Load Range E. I believe the Load Range E would've been overkill for my use, as this is my primary daily driver with occasion trips to graveled / sand surfaces. I would say 85% road and HWY, while 15% off pavement. If they were made in a Load Range C, I would've sprung for those.

I had BFG T/A KOs and Toyo Open Country AT2s on my 2 previous 3rd Gen 4Runners and I could definitely tell the difference. I decided to side for practicality on this tire choice. We'll see how it works out... Oh and the pictures of @scocar 1st Gen Tacoma off-road in the same exact tire / load spec also solidified my decision!

1,000+ miles logged. So far, so good. The off-road I have done has been limited to forest roads / deteriating rocks with numerous off camber section'd. It's great to hop back on the highway and have a smooth, quiet ride :)

I'm still loving my new Defender LTX MS. Been about 2 months. Performance is identical to my old MS2's.

For those of you who are viewing this thread I just scored a amazing deal on the older M/S2s for 630 (265/70r17) shipped through the Discount tire direct eBay offer! I am sure the newer ones are better which I almost find hard to believe but for 200 bucks less I though it was a no brainer.

I've had mine about 2 years and they have been great, but this morning I had a flat. Found a 1 inch gash in the side wall. It looks to be a smooth cut, so most likely a random idiot got it with a knife last night. Has anyone heard of issues with the side walls?

Tire discounters was on backorder and so was tirerack, was lucky enough to find a replacement at Bob Summerals. Seems the ltx ms2s have been replaced?

Yikes that's terrible. I can't comment on the sidewalls but yes the MS2 is being replaced by the defender MS. Evidently it rocks!

Just installed. Huge improvement over stock. 265/70 16. No rubbing. Just an FYI, Michelin has discontinued the old version and is and has a new version with a new compound, but using the same tread pattern (same mold I believe). they are calling then the Defender LTX M/S now. These are the new versions.

    .
I put LTX-AT2s or LTX-MS2s on each new vehicle ..... had maybe 7 sets (both tires) in last 7-8 years or so.

AT2s are great and look more off-road ... but the tires wear out fast ... especially on the outside edges while on the front (cornering).

AT2s are not as good as MS2s in rain, snow or ice either.

The MS2s kinda look like the tires on your granny's Crown Vic, but are very good on a truck if you don't offload. I love these tires.

My favorite SUV Michelin tire is the new **Premier, but i don't think it is available for a truck yet.

** (Michelin Pilots are super great, but wear super fast due to sticky rubber compound for great handling).

I will go with LTX-MS2s probably on the 2016 soon (waiting on a COSTCO sale & most Discount Tire Stores will price match COSTCO's sale price).

PS ... Michelin MS2's are much better than the previous Michelin MS's. .... Never used the Defender yet.

    .

I have been watching this thread for years and finally ordered the new defenders in 265/75r16. If you're a Costco executive member they are $130 off right now.
