Yeah, I saw those yesterday. Kind of odd that Discount Tire doesn't have them locally, you can't buy them on Discount Tire's website, but they have them on eBay. I would think, after paying eBay's vigorish, that that model of distribution would be the least profitable of the three.

Anyway, I didn't want to dick around with all that, so I had a set of BFG Long Trail T/As put on this morning. About $225 cheaper than the Mich, and I think they'll work fine.

Thinking about getting these on my 4Runner, 265/70/16. I don't want the white letters to show, so I'll mount those on the inside. I can't tell, but when they are shined up, is there any ribbed parts on the sidewall? Anyone have any closer pics when shined up??

I am picking up some LTX AT/2 tomorrow. Saw the m/s2 in person couldn't do it. Looks like a passenger tire. The LTX were on sale too. They were 200 bucks cheaper.

Handled like a champ. The only tires that ive driven with that are better, were studded tires. Those were on my cousins truck who lives in Maine. Studded tires are illegal in PA, and these tires are the best thing you can get for the weather. I had zero prolems and had perfect traction. I only had about 4-5 inches of snow though, and some slushy stuff. Ill let ya know again once I get the big hits of winter under my belt but so far they are exceeding my expectations:D

Just got the MS'2s installed and glad to get rid of the awful "Rugged Fails"

Very light snow north of Boston this morning so it's too soon to report but I have to say it was nice not sliding down my driveway this morning while backing out.

265/70/16's: 32 psi all around with (4) 60# tube sand in the bed (240#)

Thanks for all the info in this thread.

Great thread, it pretty much sums up my concerns and issues about what to replace my OEM BF Goodrich Rugged Trails that are about 40k old with.

Ever since I purchased my '08 Tacoma TRD double cab new off the dealership lot, I've noticed that this truck has a tendancy to "wonder" either direction, like it has a mind of it's own. Depending on road surface conditions, it can take considerable effort to keep it in a straight line. I never want to take my eye off the road, not even for a split second. I've driven other vehicles that stay straight with minimal effort in diverse conditions so I've always thought this "wondering" issue may just be a "tire" thing and learned to live with it. Well that time has come because the the problem is getting worse.

Based on the info in this thread, I'm going with the LTX M/S2. I'm hoping that the wondering issue will go away with this new set of tires. And btw, thanks alot for showing off those TRD rims, it seems I may be spending a little more than I expected now. :)

    Thanks to everyone for sharing!

Definitely the MS2. I have them and always go with Michelin tires. They are quiet and ride great. No regrets.

just got some M/S 2's 265/70/17's and the ride fantastic!!! I do lots of highway driving and I should have gotten them sooner. They are great in the rain and still waiting for snow to fall in Texas so I can see how they do

Hey there! I'm looking to buy some Michelin M/S tires (based in part after reading this thread).

Why not M/S 2's? Because the tire size I am looking at is 31/10.5/15's.

But I cannot find the 31's at the nearest warehouse store, C...co, because they are out of stock...technically they are "in production."

And the 31's only are being sold in the older style M/S.

Should I try to find the M/S 2's in a metric style?

This thread is great and has steered me towards buying the M/S 2 if I can ever locate some for sale.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

FWIW .... I have the "LTX-AT2s" on my Tacoma now and love them ... had the older version of the "LTX-M/S" on my last truck (2007 Tundra) and liked those too. You can't go wrong with either tire.

Had Michelin Pilots on a 2004 Titan ... great handling (soft compound & quick wearing) tire on hot asphalt, but sucked in snow.

Anywhere from 32-35 lbs. A load 35 lbs...no load 32 lbs is what I run. Hope this helps.

I was running 29, until i thought about it, and realized they are way bigger than the stock, and deserve a bit more, and I too now and running 32. From what I've read, 32 is a pretty solid PSI to run them with. I love these tires ^_^
