Allow me to shed some light for you. Instead of Discontinuing all of the original version and start production of the M/S2's, they phased out certain sizes, and cycled through all the sizes. The LTX M/S is still available in your size. I have a set at my store (NC). The M/S2 has started production, but it could be 3-4 months before they're available. In regards to the metric style, in your size (30x9.50 R15), they're only available in a LT designation, not P-Metric. The same goes for the 31x10.50 R15 as far as availablility. The High Floatation sizes (literal sizing) were among the last sizes to be phased out. Hope this information helps. Feel free to PM me with any other questions you may have.

Thanks for the information. I will concentrate on looking for 31's.

I will have to read up some more about the changes that have been made to the M/S model that has led Michelin to bring out the M/S2's.

Tough call...get some M/S's now, somewhere. Or wait for the M/S2's to roll out of production.

One of the vendors on this site Tre Rk has the M/S in stock maybe I will give them a call.

Again, great thread and very helpful.

I would say wait for those M/S2s. We just had a flash flood of snow, we got just under 3 inches in like an hour and half. My truck handled like a champ. No problems what-so-ever. I was driving through unplowed, unsalted roads. However, I can not say how they do on ice...but snow and rain, these tires are king.

    Michelin M/S...finally found some...excellent tire!
Bought the Michelins at Tire Rack. First time buying anything from them...all I can say is great service, tires shipped and delivered in 2 days!
Really liked the look of the A/T's but went with the M/S for better mileage and a quiet ride.

I highly recommend the M/S tire!

Thanks to this Thread, I ordered my LTX MS2s from the warehouse club C...co.
I was hoping for P265/75/16s but they said its a minimum 8wk wait. the Revos i have are bald and noisy and could go anytime so i just went with P265/70/16s. I will report back my take on them soon as i get some miles on them :)

Good Choice, I would not trade my MS2's for anything.

Its been 3K Miles since i bought these LTX M/S2's and i have to say I am really happy with them. The Ride has gotten a smoother and softer and also quieter compared to the bald Revos i had. I'm confident with my truck's handling ability now. I should have done an Alignment but I'm waiting to get my air bags.

FWIW ... Originally had the Michelin M/S (type 1) on 2007 Tundra and liked them.

Last year put Michelin LTX AT2s on a 2009 Tacoma and liked those even better.

With that said ... I might put some LTX M/S2s on my 2011 Tacoma. Probably get them from COSTCO or Discount Tire.

Love those Michelin Tires ... :D

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Looking at Michelin's website they are showing a 60,000 Mile Manufacturer's Treadwear Limited Warranty for the LTX A/T 2s. Everyone's warranty is limited.
I don't mind a truck feeling like a truck and the MPG can't be too much different. Getting 24 +/- now with my 4cyl 5 spd manual.
Seriously leaning toward the A/T 2s. Anyone have a history with them now ?

MY mileage actually got better with both Michelin M/S and the AT2s (better mileage than OEM tires) and the ride & grip was excellent too.

My buddy got the heavier rated AT2s (not P rated, maybe E Rated ?) and his ride stiffened up a bit ... but he still loves them.

Looks like I'll be picking up a set of P265/75/16 M/S2 tires soon. For the longest time I've had my mind set on some BFG's but in all reality, I'm on the road 95% of the time and the only off-road has been forest roads, no 4WD Low if you know what I mean. This thread really helped me out in the decision process.

Stock Rugged Fails have almost 40k on them now so it'll be soon. Once the new tires are installed it's off to get an alignment as it's obvious by the inner tread wear that my shop didn't do the alignment correctly.

great thread. thanks for all the info. i've got a 2012 double cab. just got our first measurable snow here in SD and the stock dunlaps are TERRIBLE. i've ran several different tires on 3 tacos since 1998 and these are the worst tires ever. i need some new tires soon so i don't rear end someone or slide into someone when cornering. this thread has me leaning toward the LTX M/S2. i'm wondering if anyone can comment on the continental cross contact LS 20's with eco plus? $50 cheaper per tire than the michelins, but looks to me like a very comparable tire. and it gets great reviews on tire rack.com.

also, can anyone comment on the the M/S2's on ice yet?

I've had the M/S2's on for about 35k miles now, this will be my second winter with them. First, they still look brand new (I get them rotated every 5k miles) and second, they still handle amazing in all weather types. I live in central PA and we can get brutal winters with sleet, snow, ice, freezing rain, and tons of black ice. I have driven through all of it and they handle like champs. They handle well on ice, but you need to remember no tire will really give you traction on ice, what you want, is a tire that will immediately pick up traction as soon as you have a spot to grab at, and regain control. These tires have proven over and over again to me they can do that. I did a TON of research on tires before I bought might (i agree on the suckage of the stock dunlaps) so whenever they wear out, I will be replacing them with the same tire again.

    I hope that helps!

i just had the M/S2's installed. UNBELIEVEABLE improvement over the stock dunlaps on snowpacked city streets and wet pavement. my anti-lock breaks were kicking in constantly with the dunlaps- not any more! i'm very happy with the new michelin's. on the dry interstate, i didn't notice much different- maybe slightly quieter, but not much different. on dry city streets, i feel like they just grab quite a bit better.

thanks, mjonestrumpet (and the rest of you)... yeah, that helped. after a couple more hours on the snow, i'm realizing even more how much better the mich's are than the stock dunlaps. no more "plowing" on corners. i bet i can turn a corner 5-10mph faster with the mich's on snowpacked streets. with the dunlaps i noticed spinning tires even at 30mph while getting on the interstate ramp if i hit the gas too hard to get up to highway speed. the mich's just bite and go like on dry pavement. it's a great feeling and feels much more safe. i was really nervous on snow with the dunlaps. had a constant feeling that if i didn't pay attention i might rear end someone because the anti lock brakes were kicking in even when i was driving very conservatively- extreme enough that i think toyota shouldn't even be selling the tacoma with the dunlaps in SD. i think i needs to be brought to their attention. at first, i thought it wsa because this 2012 taco was so much heavier than my '98 taco. then i honestly thought maybe my antilock brakes were set too sensitive or something. now that i have the michelins, i can totally tell that everything is working correctly and that the problem was the tires. thanks, again. and to anyone driving with the dunlaps on snow, get rid of them while you still have a front end. i suppose i could have gotten used to it, but it never fails, when you haven't had snow for awhile, it always catches you off guard- even having lived in SD my entire life. i see these new tires as insurance... better $$ spent than the $10k i've spent on regular vehicle insurance in the last 13 years.

I recently put a used pair of Michelin LTX MS with about 60K on my Tacoma (they where free and my tires were bald). They've got about 10-15k left on em. They are quiet and make my truck ride like a Caddilac. Wouldn't trust 'em off road though
