Will I regret buying these LTX MS2 highway tires?

With an 06 TRD Sport, got stuck in the snow in my own driveway with the stock Dunlop AT20s. Switched to MS/2's, and was able to pull out 9 cars/trucks on a snowy, muddy hill with no problems at all. Highly recommend these tires. Currently running with AT/2's on my 2013 SR5, but haven't had the chance to really test em out yet.

The AT2s are very quiet. The pattern offers low resistance. Mine's a DD and mostly highway miles.

The ms2 is an awesome tire.I have a new set on my 03 and they are super quiet and ride extremely well.Coming from a set of BFG KO'S there's no comparison in ride comfort..My dad has them on his Tundra also.Guy at the local tire store says he sells loads of them and has a customer that has right at 100k on a Tacoma with MS2 tires..

Maybe the Michelin AT's, I had them for a while and liked them
I now have bridgestone AT revo's, I would say they're good tires, really quiet on the highway and do pretty good offroad

FWIW ... (My personal experiences only in "on the road situations") ... I have had both ... LTX-AT2s & LTX-MS2s and the AT2s seemed like a softer rubber and you can "hear & feel them "bite" on hot asphalt ... but the MS2s are my favorite for my driving needs.

MS2s are much better in the rain and wear much better ... AT2s are better in "off road" applications (even wet grass can stop a MS2) ...

With that said ... the MS2s look like the tires on your "Grannie's Crown Vic" ... ... and the AT2s look "Beefier" and make you feel more manly & cool ... :) ... but I still like the MS2s better ... :D

The "little teeth" on the MS2s are great on ice too.

Bottom line ... BOTH are great tires and you can't go wrong with either ... :D ... but, IF I was a "true off roader", I would not buy either.

First thing I did with my truck was put a set of P265/75/16 MS2's on it. I do 95% highway, with the only offroad being dirt roads to get to fishing spots.

The ride is incredibly smooth and quiet. The truck hasn't lost any traction in the rainstorms we've been having recently. No issues on any of the "offroading" I do. And I'm getting 21-22 MPG highway, about 19 city (V6).

Only remaining test is how they'll handle a New England winter- but from the reviews I've read I'm confident they'll do fine.

If you went that route for your purchase, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Those LTX M/S 2's are the top tires for long mileage and dependability on service vehicle's, hands down.

I put the michelin m/s on my truck and i got 98,000 miles out of them. Mostly highway miles and a lot of towing a 3000lb boat.I just put the m/s 2's on and have put 20,000 miles on them and they look brand new. I have never been in mud with them but some loose sand and they got me through it with the help of speed of course. Actually now to think about it bald stock tires would have gotten me through it how fast i hit that shit. Anyway hope this helps

They are really good tires. Expect atleast 75k on em.

Made my truck ride like a cadillac too.

I think you made a decent choice. I don't have any experience with passenger vehicle Michelins but I do in commercial vehicles. The tread life on them and durability of the casings, in my experience, is unmatched.

I always try to sell Michelins, it's not rare for a customer to come back for a new set of steers after running them for 200,000+ and still have 4/32nds left.

Went back to the tire shop today. Getting them to take off the Pirellis because they wouldn't balance even after a second 2 hour attempt. Getting the Michelins put on. Worst case scenario - I can throw on the tire chains. Looking forward to see how they affect MPG's.

IRRC ... Michelin did have a few problems with the AT2s ... outside lugs breaking (very hard cornering can tear those o/s lugs) which caused balancing issues I think ...

My AT2s were fantastic with no problems though.

I went back to the MS2s because I don't off road and the MS2s are better in the rain in the south.

You can't go wrong with either tire.

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
I just sold some for $400 when I lifted my runner. They were new and drove great. I liked them, not loud and were a great street tire.

I can see how those little lugs could be prone to tearoff with regular harsh use on sharp rocks and the like. But if someone is using them like that regularly, they probably need a more serious AT.

I have a question on P265/75/16 MS2's, did you guys used the P-rated or LT? The reason I ask because I just installed installed Duratrack and I dont like it. Fot me its was loud and not stable on the highway, Don't get me wrong, the looks of Duratrack are so good on my Tacoma with Black FJ trail and capable off road, but I guess I drive 95% highway so I'm going to return the Duratrack for P265/75/16 MS2's.

I start with 37 PSI, loud, shaking and bouncy even I have my old rims in the bed maybe the freeway add some on it. 35 PSI same, 32 PSI unstable on freeway speed (75-80). My rugged fail handle better on that speed. You have 285/75/16 and I have 265/75/16, that might be a factor.

I think thats what discount tire have, in that case, I don't want to deal with balancing problem on the rest of the tire life. I want to enjoy my truck driving not to get the tire balance everytime it shake. For me it is a safety issue, I probably keep my offroad rims and get an off road tires later when I go offroad and driving in the snow.
