I'm driving to Ann Arbor tomorrow for work...

 

I already took time off of work and I'm planning on heading up to visit relatives in Traverse City on the 23rd so I'm definitely game to go.

 

That's all I needed to hear, I'll be in Big Rapids at Jimmy Johns at 11 a.m. and ready to roll at noon Saturday August 22

 

I'm doing a trail run this Saturday in the 1990 Toyota and bringing some pruners and a chainsaw to confirm a clear and safe rout for the 22nd

Calling all mid Michigan 4x4's
I'm going to scout a rout through the Manistee National Forest this Saturday
I already know about 15 miles of seasonal roads / trails and I want to explore another 15 or more from there.
This will be light duty off roading and very little need to use 4WD if at all.
I'll be taking M-20 W to Big Rapids and entering the trail near White Cloud around noon.
The rout travels north and might end up making a loop back to White Cloud or even more likely end up in Baldwin and return via US-10

 

Ahhh man! Bummed I missed this yesterday. I'm in the area, would have offered to grab a beer. We've got dome awesome breweries in the area. If you ever come through again don't be afraid to reach out.

That's manistee?? Damn I was just there a couple weeks back for some paddling. Didn't know there were trails back there. Unfortunately I'll down south that weekend.

 

I would love to hit te trails up there. I just got back from the Sierra Nevada Mtns last night so I'll see if I can steal another dy away from the family. I'll let you know if I am going to be able to make it or not. Sounds like fun.

I did the route 2 weeks ago in 2 wheel drive with an open differential. There are only two areas a little sandy going slightly uphill. I have a heavy duty snatch strap and there is a way around that section but I really don't think it will be a problem.
It had rained the day before but there still wasn't much for puddles and no mud pits.
The route consists of 80 percent packed country / forest roads and 40% ORV / mixed traffic. ( no ORV sticker needed) The route does keep us off concrete and in the forest for about 50 miles one way to Baldwin. If we get through quick enough and anyone wants to reverse the rout, if be down. It is extremely scenic but otherwise a pretty mellow ride.

Sweet! The more the merrier! I am bringing a pair of Motorola FRS/GMRS radios to make communication easy. They should work with most other handheld two-way radios so if you have some, feel free to bring them.

 

Cool, I have two cheep older ones good for at least 1/4 mile in heavy woods I can bring as well.

 

I'm in. Bringing the wife and kid so we can hit the lakeshore also. Looking forward to it. I have a buddy that might come also. I'll let you know.

 

The Jimmy John's is part of the Shell gas station and has a small parking lot.
There is an ALDI's grocery store directly behind the Shell / Jimmy John's that will be more suitable to gather.
A corner of the ALDIs parking lot overlooks the gas pumps and that's where I will be in a 2015 Super White AC OR

The gathering starts at 11AM and rolls out at noon

 

how many trucks anyone got CB's and driving up from detroit? maybe a little roll out from this area?

 

I got a CB as well as a single HH we lost the last one on the last trip. Ill be bringing a strap as well as well as hopefully another body as well. i don't imagine getting stuck or breaking things but who the hell knows

 

I think we are at 5 trucks, personally I have no problem if other brand trucks join in so feel free to invite anyone respectful.
If anyone here is on Toyota Nation or another Toyota forum, please spread the word,
Also a big thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I hope we can get even more trucks to do this again for the color change in another month or so.
