I've been running Valvoline ML for years. Both 1st Gen Tacomas and 2nd Feb Tundras. No issues at all.

Any idea what Gleason landing is like? Is everyone with a sled on the river?

I have not been to Gleasons Landing or down to the River but can check it out in a couple days and report back.

    Thanks.

Been thinking about heading over, but if it's at all busy I'm not gonna risk it.

Gleasons Landing can get busy in prime time, but it’s a great spot.

The best fishing is between Gleason’s and walhalla rd. With the rain we have had lately, the fish should be running and on the gravel. But with everyone not working, it maybe elbow to elbow?

Hey all, wanted to pop in and say Hi. I'm normally Austin, TX based, but since my company is WFH for the year I'll be working from my place in Mackinaw city. I've had my taco for a couple of months and since I don't have a garage up here I probably won't mod it much till I'm back in Texas, I've got an ARE DCU shell on order so I can do some weekend camping.

    Obligatory picture of my truck:

    Welcome!
I am in Grand Rapids, so about 3 1/2 hours from you. Here is my truck. Let's get the Michigan thread going!

What are y'all doing to prevent rust? My Tacoma has a new frame, so hardly any rust on it. I am debating whether I should coat the frame with something similar to Por15(my FIL is a mechanic, he could help me) or just fluid filming every fall.

Auburn Hills here, but head north often.

For rust prevention... twice a year I’ll get underneath with a wire brush and hit any developing surface rust. Then, I’ll hit those spots with a rust converter; let that sit for 24-48 hours, then I’ll top with some satin black and satin clear, or some por 15.

I know fluid film is another popular option; I don’t like the smell, and it can get messy if I later need to do some work in an area it’s been sprayed. Just my personal preference though, I know it’s good stuff and very effective.

Good techniques. I will have to do that before winter hits.

I am in GR too. I currently fluid Film every fall. But I want to try to get it coated again by Great Lakes Chemical. It's an asphalt coating and it lasts about 5 years.

Does anyone have a go to tire person in the northern part of the state? The Toyota dealer I got the truck from put new tires on it before I got it...unfortunately they are some Kuhmo all season that doesn't really fit the vibe of a TRD offroad. If I could find some affordable all terrains while I'm up here I'd switch.

You can go to tirerack.com and order exactly what you want, then have any place mount them.

I do mine every other year. I have a lift, so I think I can get away with doing it on the odd years.

I agree, Fluid Film does have an unpleasant smell. Reminds me of a cat box that's about 3 days past needing to be cleaned.
