Hello Michigan Tacos! I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan also.

I am on my second Tacoma now. I recently upgraded from a 2007 OR TRD DBC to a 2020 OR TRD DBC. I head up north quite often. This is my set up this past weekend for a family camping trip:

Took the family to Interlochen State park for 5 days. We do a lot of the state parks around michigan but wish it was easier to get sites. You have to plan 6 months out. Unfortunately we had two weekends earlier this season (south higgins and ludington) cancelled due to covid.

    Same.

Only we never schedule a lot at the State parks. We just go camping during the week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is never 100% full.

We've actually got lot 164 at Petoskey state park twice. That lot is considered one of the best lots in the entire state park system.

We just got back from young state park in charlevoix. Tacoma performed beyond expectations! Lake charlevoix is gorgeous. Long drive.

    Howdy fellow Taco enthusiasts,
I'm also somewhat new to the forum and live in West Michigan. I'm always looking for new people and spots to go wheeling. What are some of your guys' favorite local(ish) trails/parks for off-roading?

I would love to do marblehead later this year up on drummond, I've only ever done it in my Jeep on 35s though...but I assume a stock taco should be fine.

They look awesome. They are the UltraTerrains from discount.
I took them on a highway drive and they are honestly not very loud. I cruised at 65-70 most of the way and never really noticed much ride noise. they road pretty nice too. I like them

Drummond is on my to-do list. I can't believe I haven't been there since I have been to almost every corner of the LP and UP of michigan. I read about a few overland trips on the drummond and wondering if a stock TRD OR is capable on those trails.

I have never been, but I have always heard drummond island is pretty advanced and for heavily modified rigs.. Just what I have been told. I would love to see it someday.

Don't flame me for the Jeep pics, I've learned the one true way and am a Tacobro now. The first picture is me going down marblehead, the others are just some random wheeling pics from the same trip. Drummond is a dream (aside from the mosquitos) and has a ton of dirt road, wheeling and crawling. Depending on where you go there is definitely some tricky stuff my Jeep was on a 3.5" lift with 35s, but there is also easier stuff and bypasses on a lot of the obstacles.

I wasn't planning on lifting / modifying my Tacoma while in Michigan...but if folks were trying to put together a trip I could probably adjust that approach.

Nice pictures! I came from a jeep as well, so I wont judge.

Glad to hear they have bypasses and such
