M119..Know it well. I take my dogs out to a groomer on 5 mile creek road. You starting in Petoskey? and by chance, you coming over to the eastern side? Mackinac City or Cheboygan after the ride? oh and if you stay on the western side, go Check out the Headlands Dark Sky Park and the Mackinac Historical Society Farm right across from it.

Damn. Missed that one. Would have added it but the timing would have been tight. I barely got over the bridge and to my spot about 10 minutes before sundown.

Heading down from copper harbor now. About 30 miles from the Wisconsin border. Should be in Madison tonight.

Not sure where we may end up. Could end up at Onaway then head south from there.

...anyways, the tunnel of trees was perfect! Color of leaves was at its peak ( I feel sorry for you guys that have color deficiency).

I highly endorse this day trip. Make sure your gas tank is full. Not many gas stations in that neck of the woods. We ended up at Macinac City before we headed south.

The day long road trip was 425 miles. I'm beat!

M119 is awesome, even in the summer, its cool just to cruise it. theres some really nice dunes and a nice beach in Cross Village. Check it out next time youre up.

The only thing that annoyed me was the DLR lights on cars and trucks. It kind of distracted you from enjoying the beauty. Speeds were 30mph at best, do really didn't think lights were needed.

Some vehicles can't disable those. My GMC would automatically turn them on whenever you shifted into drive. Turning the switch to off, holding it off, etc. did nothing.

If they're Canadian then it's a legal requirement for that.

That makes sense. My truck was previously in Canada.
