Its some sort of recall isn't it?

A buddy of mine works at Kool Toyota on Plainfield ave here in GR and he says he gets a lot of the newer Tundra's from certain years and 1st gen Taco's that he does frame swaps on.

Ya, one little frame rust hole :D and the buy-back is great "150% of KBB price" lol

so the only thing i'll have to pay for is gas over to Ann Arbor and back three times

ok what the fawk!? I called up Kool Toyota and they told me the TSB (Toyota Service Bulletin did not exist/ my truck was not covered in the frame replacement program). My Imports in Muskegon here said the same thing.

Dunning Toyota was the only one who really knew what it was... but they also have alot of experience with it like 80+ and have examples up on youtube of the swaps so...

Hope you like your technician too because if he is good he will make a KILLING off this. My buddy loves the new Tundra frame swaps. Pays like 75hrs and he does the whole swap in about 30ish hrs. Everything unbolts and lifts right up off the chassis!

They might have dropped it? The last one he did on a first gen was a good year or so ago. Either that or you got a poor service advisor doing the work!

well i asked to talk straight to the service manager so... not sure. And yes they said it ended March 31st of 2011. According to Dunning it is simply 15 years from the In Service Date (manufacture) regardless of any coating done, the coating simply "restarts" that 15 years.

it is going to take them 3-4 weeks to get the frame but i am driving the truck in the meantime. Once they have it they said 2-5 days and they will supply a rental car free of charge while they do it.

As I figured, even though there is an end date some are more willing to make right as it shows customer support. In turn usually makes a future sale.

Congrats on the new frame none the less! I am thinking I need to figure out how to do the diff breather mod. I don't like doing many mods.

I think affecting warranty has me more worried than anything. I'd love to have like a early 90's pickup or especially a 4runner to jack up capable of rock crawling and hitting deep mud!

Did we say at the last meet something about setting up a camping thing somewhere in manistee or elsewhere next spring?

Jay: when are you sending your truck off for the frame swap? We going to try to get a trip in before, or did you already drop it off?

Matt: that spot looks cool just remember mods are good as long as the truck still does what you want. I've taken a few new trucks and torn them apart. Below is my 99 Blazer only had it for about 2.5 years and sold it at the begining of 02 because I didn't use it anymore. But if it wasnt for that truck I wouldnt have learned how to build trucks.

I will have army stuff that weekend :( but who knows my truck might be out of commission by then anyways...

I have the truck right now. They did the frame inspection today and ordered the parts, so 3-4 weeks from now is when i will be dropping the truck off. Then I'll b without it for less than a week so... BUT the front bumper should be nearing completion by the end of this week!

lol I'm gonna be a PITA and say this weekend might not work since I will probably not really have a front bumper at the time. It should be mostly completed but unpainted and as i learned with the rear, it is nottt OK to run it unpainted for a little while lol

so like i said just plan whatever, and if i can make it great if not, dont worry about it
