I will bug Ron a little later then!

The one guy who shows up is a Land Cruiser nut. He had 8 last I counted.

I might be interested in the R&V portion of it. Guess I should be looking into ORV stickers and those Bilsteins at some point.

So I've come to realize its very hard to not go into Gander Mountain and not buy at least one goodie. Good thing there isn't a store that caters directly to my truck...

Alright guys its time to make a game time decision. I figured you guys have seen the truck in action and can help me make the decision.

So do I go spring under in the back and start turning the truck into a sand truck that can run the trails. or do I keep building it the way I am and make it a more capable trail truck that will also be better in the sand?

    Lets hear some thoughts.

There is a guy on greatlakes4x4.com that started with a pretty decent late-80s truck. He kept doing mods in his build thread. I quit following when he swapped the stock axles out. Its now like a rock buggy I guess. Not my cup of tea. I don't want to have to trailer my rig anywhere I want to go. About the most I would do to my drivetrain is f&r ARB air lockers.

I vote trail truck, BUT thats coming from someone who is building his truck for more expedition style off-road instead of high speed/extreme craziness lol

I'm right there with you. I dont believe in having something I wouldn't drive everyday. My blazer used to run to New York frequently, about 500 miles one way, that was a fun drivein the winter on Baja Claws.
I have a buddy that spends alot of time on Great Lakes 4x4 and 4runner is going through the same thing. The only problem is he wants it to be pretty also. He wont drive it and doesn't like to pull a trailer. Just not my cup of tea either. Here how it sits right now, about to reshoot around the fenderwells so they match the rest of the truck after trimming for the 39.5's.

Awesome truck, but after spending all the money why not use the truck for the way it was built?

Agree, I am also getting to the point where I just want to beat on my truck and change it as things break. Seems like in the last year spent more time working on the 3 trucks we used to wheel the most and didn't wheel them much.

I keep getting mixed ideas on how to build the truck. Want that overland adventure look to it, but also just want an aggressive look that is more functional for daily use like towing and hauling. Even with the sliders I am going with the bolt on application just because I doubt I will be dropping in on boulders any time in the future with it.

Aren't the bolt-on sliders weldable if in the future you do want to do something serious?

Not sure the avid ones are or not. But regardless if they are or aren't I'm sure I could fab something up at work to make them weldable.

The taco is definitely a camping rig for me and the misses.

Run them from the battery along the frame rail until you hit the bed. Small hole under the front of the toolbox in the bed floor. Run infront of the toolbox if possible so when hinge it up they will be out of the way. Just use a relay and only have to run one wire in the cab to switch.

I have some friends that have the trail-only rigs. Thats what they like to do though. I don;t mind kicking back and watching. I have nothing to prove to myself like that though. Thats just the way I am.
