Hey everybody, I've got my lift and wheels, but i'm torn on deciding which of these tire sizes to get. I for sure want Mickey Thompsons ATZs, but these subtle differences are throwing me off.

My wheels are Mickey Thompson classic III 16x8" with 4.5" bs
My lift is a 3" suspension bilstein coilovers with SPC UCAs

    TIRES:
    the 285/75r16 ATZ: Height: 32.9", Width: 11.7", Rim range: 7.5-9", Measured rim: 8", Max load: 3750lbs., Max psi: 80, Weight: 56lbs., Revs/mile: 632

    the 305/70r16 ATZ: Height: 33.1", Width: 12", Rim range: 8-9.5", Measured rim: 9.5", Max load: 3525lbs., Max psi: 65, Weight: 63lbs., Revs/mile: 628

the set (4) of 305s would cost 60$ more than the 285s

My truck is a 2nd gen and I'm aware i'll probably have to do some cutting/trimming. This truck will mainly be on the road with occasional trips to the beach and medium trails. Maybe some mudding once in a blue moon. What i'm looking for is which tire will look the best proportion wise, be the most durable/dependable/effective, and how much trimming/cutting i'll be looking forward to. I won't be running wheel spacers. Your help will be much appreciated!!

Those are pretty close to the same size. What’s the price difference?

the 305s are 15$ more a piece so i'd be paying 60$ more for the set of 4

I'm running a similar setup to you on 305's, however they are Fierce Attitude M/T tires.

16x8 rim 4.5in backspace, no spacers.
Just under 3in lift at maybe 2.8in with spc's as well.

I had to chop a decent amount out of my cab mount and minimal cutting of my fenders. I don't rock crawl much so it doesn't flex a whole lot but I have put it through its paces with minimal rubbing. Every truck is slightly different though and alignment might affect if you rub or not.

I personally went with 305's because they are a little wider and like you wanted proportional tires. For me I wanted a wide tire look.

I do agree though that finding 285's are a lot easier but luckily I've never had any major issues in my time on the trails.

And of course all tires are slightly different. Mine are about 32.8in tall and tread width at its widest parts is 11in.

That looks good! i agree the wider tire looks better. Would you happen to have a side view shot as well? I also don't understand why this tire size has a lower max load and max psi?

Both the same load range? Youre not towing 20k lbs with the truck so it doesnt matter really.

Agreed, since the tires are already 3500lbs+ I wouldn't worry about that at all.

As a side note, I run my 305's at 29psi. Best on road pressure for me after doing the chalk test.

I love the MT Classic III’s. I don’t have big boy tires yet but I love the wheels! Just a head up, Loctite the screws that hold the hub cap on. I had to buy replacements at Home Depot and nearly lost a hub cap. 2A016017-AAC5-4D61-9342-A426AF129A9E.jpg
