I have a long bed 2019 Tacoma, and I’m thinking about getting a mid rise camper (Leer MX) and a decked drawer system. I’m worried the height inside after that won’t be that much and I won’t be able to sit up (I’m using this as a camper). Does anyone have a similar setup?

    Thanks!

Hey looks like this was your first post and no one replied yet, welcome to Tacoma world!

    Short answer: no decked

I would say don’t do it if you are worried about headroom, I use a platform in my bed that I can slide camp gear/boxes under and I know it’s a few inches lower than the decked, worked well for a cab high topper but most definitely could not sit up inside, kind of more prop up if watching/reading something, and I just switched to an ARE MX topper to gain some more headroom, a decked system would put you back to what I frequently refer to as a coffin bedding situation, gain inches on the Mx topper lose inches because of the drawers you would be similar to my crawl-in camp bed

admittedly haven’t used the new topper for camping yet though I’m sure it’s better, and I wanted to do the exact setup you describe because it would be pretty slick

Btw you should post on new members forum and see about the regional forum for your area

Yes, I have this setup and you have roughly 8” from the top of the decked system and the top of the bed rails. So depending on the height of the cap you can go from there.

    Nice, thanks for the responses!

I actually ended up building a simple platform similar to a bunch of ideas on TW, and I’m building my own drawers to go underneath. I think it’s close to the same height as the decked maybe just an inch shorter, but way cheaper.

Depends on the depth of your bed and your height. The DECKED system sits 12" up from the bottom of the bed. In many cases, you can sit up with the midrise and raised top campers.

I've got a 26" high camper and a home-built platform that is about 10" off the bed floor. I can almost sit up, but not quite. It's enough room to move around comfortably, change clothes, put on shoes, etc. But I'm not going to be having a tea party back there :D
