    Driving around town you won't see too much of a difference besides the filter getting dirty easier. Heavy rain is what you have to worry about, at least if its raining good keep the skinny pedal to a minimum so the intake isn't sucking in air at max. Filter is easy enough to check once in a while, maybe keep another filter on hand if your really worried

    You could put a pre filter around the intake tube. I wouldn't think it would screw with the airflow since there meant to go around airfliter.

    You could put it around the tube and find a good way to attach it. It would in theory keep dirt and water out. But it may get clogged to frequently.

    Nah you only have to cut that piece that comes into the wheel well if you have a snorkel. That little pick up will collect tons of dirt/mud
