Anyone upgrade their cv boots to the SDHQ ones or the allpro's? Is it worth it?

^^ This is where I have a feeling I fucked up with my rear ICON order. Went with the standard length 2.5 resi's and now that I'm seeing that everyone is running the extended length shocks with their Dakar's I have a feeling I will have to send them back and bend over to get them the way they should be. Stupid travel job... 4 more weeks until home.

I think all that needs changed is the shaft length. New shafts were only $30 bucks each which isn't bad. Course you also have to disassemble the shock to install it so there is cost there. I know a rebuild plus new shafts on my 2.0 rr icons was less than 200 (want to say more around 150) so not terrible. Even cheaper if you do the work yourself. I'm not including any shipping costs

Uh but...if you for example put a 10" shaft in an 8" shock body you main gain 2" of droop travel but you will lose 2" of up travel...and you will have to buy new bumps to ensure your shock is not bottoming out before your axle bumps.

^^^Yup. The ext shocks I have get almost 11" of travel with a collapsed length of 15.9" iirc. I don't think you can get those #'s by just changing an OEM length shock to a longer shaft.

Once I get back I'll have to droop the rear axle and see how short the shocks will be. I don't have the "finesse" to build new shocks myself and $200 on top of what I just paid is a frustrating cost to face especially after the dealer told me extended length wouldn't be necessary and would reduce my up travel increasing chances of damage.... Maybe I can work something out with the vendor or just sell these and order a new set.

hi all. is Total Chaos the only option when it comes to upgrading the lower control arm cam tabs? i have discovered one of my OE ones is flattened out so i can't have my alignment adjusted properly. TC is the only one i can find online so far

Pretty much. Im sure another fab company would do it for a price, but i bet TC is cheapest since theyre already established

You can try the bush fix: bend the tab back and run a bead of weld behind it to re-enforce.

The TC kit is easy to install, what else do you want in the kit?

you might get lucky, but you're probably right.

more importantly, why did the cam move enough to shear that off? are they seized to the bushings or did you take a big hit?

they are not seized, not sure why it happened. it was found this morning by the alignment tech, for all i know he over cranked it or something, but no way to prove it. they just called me and told me it was bent and they cant align properly

Interesting. No way the tech bent it, unless he had a 3' breaker bar.

    Yes
So not true, tons of people have had their tabs flattened by alignment techs.
