Mid vs Extended vs Long Travel?

    starting the research to do a no more than 3” lift with ether Fox or Kings but cannot find differences between a mid extended or long travel set up. Anyone able to answer what the difference is and any references would be helpful.

    Standard mid travel and extended mid travel is only a difference of about an inch (of travel), it's simply a matter of a small washer inside the shocks that limits the travel a bit on the standard versions. Standard travel can be used with stock UCA's, extended travel usually requires aftermarket UCAs.

    Long travel is another beast entirely from mid travel...let's put it this way- mid travel is $$$ and long travel is $$$$$$$

    Long travel isn't as bolt on as most mid travel setups are and requires more fabricating and customizing for install.

    For most people mid travel is more than enough, unless you really want to have a 'race truck' then start saving up for long travel.
    Some people opt for a mid travel front and a long travel rear which is kind of a middle ground between the two.

    Is mid travel and extended travel the same thing?

    Have any examples of others who are running the mid travel front and long travel set up?

    Looking for a sleeper overland more than anything while also being a daily driver.

    Sounds like mid travel is more what you want then, it's a much more common setup on most offroad trucks largely due to cost and practicality.

    When you do mid travel you have the option of going 'standard' or 'extended'. Both are still mid travel though. Long travel is another ball game.

    check that thread that was linked up above, most of the guys that post in there have long travel trucks and there are tons of pics.

    Mid travel works with stock upper control arms.

    Extended travel gives another inch of travel and requires aftermarket upper control arms.

    Long travel costs up to $7k, widens stance and everything up front gets replaced from suspension to upper and lower arms and longer CV shafts.
