I wasn't able to find the answer so decided to try it out and post my results.

I installed the Midland MXTA25 antenna using the MXTA27 mount on my 2nd gen. No fancy ditch light mount, just straight to the hood.

I've been though the automated car wash multiple times without issue. (Not the best place to mount, however I hit the car wash multiple times a week and pulling the old magnet mount off the roof every time was a pain. This is a good solution for my application.)

lol yup! It's pretty dusty where I live and there's a sweet carwash on my way to work. For $50/month my tacoma and my wife's car get unlimited washes. I probably use it 4 of the 5 weekdays, and sometimes on weekends.

It's my 6 minutes of morning Zen :)

I like that placement for the antenna as well. When I get a Gmrs antenna it’ll go there too.

Like I said our vehicles get pretty dirty, even just sitting in the driveway overnight. At one car wash a day for 2 cars that's roughly 60 car washes a month for $50. It works for us! Of course it doesn't make sense for everyone.

Besides, what else does California need water for? :)

I like it. You need water for the greenest grass on your front lawn…that you can only water on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. I’m from California I get it. We used to live in so cal

For the number of car washes that's a good deal. But that's an absurd number of car washes. You wash yours more in a week than I do in two years.

Yeah, that's a bit excessive. I'd be worried about paint wear.

On the other end of the spectrum I wash my truck every 6mo-1year. I do truck stuff (not that anyone else here doesn't), so it's always dirty lol.

But... has the tuner reception improved. This seems to be the issue on even the best h/u's anymore.

Good morning friends! Rain is forecast for this afternoon so figured I'd get a car wash before that happened. Here's a pic of the antenna in action.
