Nice! Wish I could've attended! I use a tow strap, but I'm not doing any running pulls like you would with a kinetic strap. I've only used it to tow my wife's car actually.

I'm going to go again at some point, I'll probably hit east again this year since I won't be able to make west this year. West is a much larger event but east is growing rapidly over the last couple years.

a few of the guys were out in Moab and they said the things you see out there are down right scary, especially with winches and tow straps. Lots of people seem to think tossing a tow strap over a tow ball and giving it hell is fine...

kinetic recoveries are very dangerous because the forces at play increase significantly. If a vehicle is bogged in mud, you'll also get suction to overcome in addition to the weight of the vehicle.

Ronny dahl made a couple good videos if you havent seen them. He has a bunch of recovery videos as well

    @Shellshock

I'm planning on having lunch at Potosi brewery tomorrow. Want to meet there around 11? Or whatever time works for you.

The brewery is close to the trails. I drive better with a good meal in me:)

    Anyone else? Beuller?

    awesome shade of blue!
I still wish they had blue on the lot when i bot mine long time ago, swapped blue for black
been contemplating change of color to my first Toyota pickup that was blue (or maybe half since the box probably needs repainted to properly fix a couple of chips)
not sure how strange that might look o_O
anybody good with the photoshop to give a preview?
    my ps skills are limited

I’ve used a bunch of different winches for work and by far the best brand I’ve used ya been Warn. If I ever put anything on a personal vehicle it will be them. They are fantastic imo.

Wish I could join you guys, but I’m on call this weekend for work.

What about this one? Slightly cheaper than the high end Warn. https://sherpa4x4.com/products/stallion-25000lb-truck-winch?variant=14715532509302

 I'm just saying if you had planned to pay 1200 for the high end warn, why not get this behemoth!? :notsure: Pretty sure it's the same bolt pattern.

EDIT: 1400 for the 12000lb warn!

It's to winch my truck into a tree to keep bears out of my food.

Also keep in mind, the more powerful the winch, the more dangerous it becomes.

I feel like the most likely thing to happen is the winch recovers itself and leaves your truck behind lol

Truth. It's definite Overkill for our trucks. I just don't see why one would pay 1200-1400 for almost half the capacity. :notsure:
sherpa4x4 has a few different levels though.

Or you relieve the truck of its wheels.

There’s far more to winches than just the capacity rating. Line rate for example. The cheaper winches tend to be pretty slow, especially under load and generate a lot of heat and suck gobs of power.
