Omaha, we had almost 2ft of snowcover from the past month disappear in a couple days with heavy rain

Over in eastern Iowa I haven’t found much for deep water, just a lot of water. Water running over roads in a lot of spots and the fields are full of water

A few folks were kayaking a couple streets away from me the other day. Most of my friends have water in their basements. My snorkel gets here Tuesday. I ordered it a long time ago and it was backordered though.

I’m on the fence about a snorkel. Only reason why is I’ve seen many hmmwv’s in the Army hydro lock the motor cause the water ended up getting to the motor through the exhaust which was routed under the vehicle. They had a snorkel, intake was dry, yet motor was shot.

If you look at all the Marine hmmwv’s they have the exhaust reroute up the side of the vehicle, why? So it’s the same height as the snorkel. Makes sense to me? Anyone have thoughts?

it could be the Tacoma TRD snorkel is best purposed for the Desert? or dusty farm fields where we are all located in the midwest
I will keep an eye out for a 2nd or 3rd gen that also modified the exhaust, us 1st gens would need a serious lift to even attempt some deeper water or mud

the news reports last night showed that north of here in SD and northern IA the flooding is much worse

this happened about 30 miles away from me in Arlington NE

    I’d say that’s a total loss.

Car fax - has slight water damage

not gonna try it up north in the upper peninsula when they have heavy snow? I was working once around there at some various small-town post offices and had to check out Lake Superior in January and found some town where they sometimes have over 10ft of lake snow

I was thinking I would do an island tour up in bayfield WI with it. Screw the ferry. I will drive there underwater.

    fellow Midwesterners,

I just entered my truck yesterday in the TW Ride of the Month for March

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tw-ride-of-the-month-photo-challenge-march.597665/page-5

feel free to give a like (I am near the bottom of page 5) and/or enter your own pic!
I don't think there have been any blue trucks entered yet

1st round voting (# of likes) will close at 5 PM ET on the 21st (Thursday)

stay safe if traveling near any of the flooded regions, one small town close to me is completely closed off (no in or out) many horses are trapped up to their underside in water

do you still have snow cover in Rapid City? they had to shut down the Missouri River (or reduce water release) in yankton this week, just wonder how long they can keep it closed

Everything is melting now so maybe I can find Rainee’s missing collar at last. It’s going to be a muddy mess for awhile. I’ve been following the flooding pretty closely. I have friends in Sioux City, Omaha, Stanton and a few other places out east and on the Mo.

its a mess, we had a huge flood problem on the Missouri in 2o11 from all the snow melt out west plus 'mismanagement' of the dams in SD, not sure what's gonna happen this summer

Yeah, I followed that one after moving to Texas and covered the Cedar Rapids flood for local/national TV a few years before. You guys take good care of each other now.

it got very warm outside here today, almost had to see if my A/C is still in good working order Lol

any aspirations for a spring meet before it gets all buggy out?

as Iowa was hit the hardest (I think) during this disaster, where is best to go

Iowa’s been fine for the most part. There was a lot of water for a couple days. Only thing flooded still is the usual spots along the rivers. Nebraska is an ocean now.

what news have I been listening to
i heard Iowa's estimates are twice what NE is
    must be fake news o_O
is the 3 billion for all neighboring states even accurate?
I-29 from here to KC (St.Joes) is closed (again) indefinitely
I am still waiting for news that they found the guy that got swept away when the dam broke near the SD border
