No clue. I go north very few times, mostly to WI and IN for family.

@Sociopenguin you went to Omaha right? What route did you take?

Not sure how far South it's closed, could take I 80 to Lincoln and then highway 2 to Nebraska City maybe skip the close part that's almost to Missouri..

I believe that I29 through Iowa is closed to the Missouri border? I live close to 75 but 59 is a straight shot to Craig, on 75 I still have to go east aways on 36 in Kansas to get to I29, i guess I should check for closures on 59, the map looks like it gets real close to the river

That would probably be best course of action. Could also go east to des moines and take i35. If other routes are out.

You will need to work on your geography before I am good to go from Iowa (not Ohio). Who know where we might end up!

I'd be good with a meet-up. I checked with the Cars and Coffee event in West Des Moines, and they would be happy to have us at their event. Just an option though.
There is also an off road park in South west Iowa that would work as a group site. Although it looks like it's for serious off roaders. My "Pavement Queen" wouldn't make it through the first ditch. LOL https://miobiiowa.org/about-us

SR5 with stock tires and stock suspension.

Cars & Coffee Des Moines, is a great Des Moines car show where everyone is welcome. We are not a club, as we enjoy all cars equally. If you have something that you love to drive, and want to share it with other enthusiasts, you’re invited.

We meet 8am to noon, the first and third Saturday morning of each month from Spring to Fall, weather permitting. Our group meets at the Caribou Coffee on Mills Civic (see map below). Our meets are free of charge, no admission fee, no display fees. Caribou Coffee is right next store - so grab your favorite drink and hang out, check out the cars, and make some new friends.

lol, what I meant is at a year old (2o18) it should be a 'princess'
what is older than a queen? which is probably me (1997)
but I no longer have the stock tires on mine, needed something real sweet to plow through the city snow before the plows hit the streets
tomorrow is the 1st (short notice) I will see about the next one
I checked that Des Moines map and not familiar with that far south on I-35, I've been in the northern part by Merle Hay to downtown, but it looks easy enough to find

Back a few years ago, when I was working for a living, I worked with several guys who had highly modified off road trucks. They did take them off road at times, but we were living in north east Illinois, so there weren't too many places to go. Anyway, the "non-truck" guys at the break table would call their trucks "Pavement Queens". God, that would piss them off. We would just laugh and laugh...
Let me know if you are going to do the CC thing. I have to go see my sister in Indianola in the next couple of months. I'll let you know if I go.

Usually the guys with the most modified ones use them the least from what I’ve seen.

I’ll run to cc in dsm if anyone else is ever going. It’s only 2 hours from me.

Wow! I haven't checked in here in awhile and I had a lot of catching up to do!

I'm still interested in this. Des Moines is 6 hours from me, so definitely a 3 day weekend would be in order:cool:

I'm also thinking about a camping outing in Wisconsin in late summer, maybe September. There's trails in the Lakewood/Laona district of the Chequamegon/Nicolet National Forest, and plenty of camping nearby.

I'll post any information about it here as things come together.

Also petitioning for the allowance of 4runners at the cars and coffee event:D

Also, we have a cars and coffee event in Lake Mills, Wisconsin every first Sunday of the month. I am always impressed by the diversity of the turnout.

I'm not a big fan of shows that have a bunch of the same thing, generally. Although, I could probably get into on that focuses on Toyota 4×4's

I’m hopefully going to make a few runs to wisco this spring / summer. Down for anything in fall too. I’m pretty much open to anything in the Midwest, I’ve got nothing better to do lol

I had a bunch of small post office jobs outside of Madison and north of Milwaukee in the late 90s during Dec-Jan very cold!

I80 is still pretty good as far as I know, its just a big mess trying to get to KC and Sioux City from here

I always found I-90 across SD to be more scenic than I80 or I70

Awesome! I just checked out part of the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail last Friday. It starts in the southwest corner of the state, so it might not be a bad ride for you. I'm thinking of heading out there again in late April.

It runs through some very scenic areas. Here's a picture of my 4runner in a spot where everyone takes pictures, for obvious reasons.

I’d really like to run that at some point this year (all or part). I’ve been looking at it for a while now. There’s a route across northern Minnesota now too. I’m about an hour and a half from where it starts on the south end, so it’s not too far for me to get there.

I’m heading to AZ the first week of May, but aside from that my plan for the summer is as much camping and adventuring as I can find

Cool! May is pretty busy for me. I'm thinking I'll shoot for the weekend of the 20th to get back out there again. But, I'll probably be willing to go again in June or July.

There is an event in Illinois on Memorial day weekend that I am hoping to attend. It starts at a coffee shop in the Chicago area and then heads to an off road park.

I might meet at the coffee place and then just go for a cruise afterwards.

I'm a little apprehensive about going to off road parks as the pictures always seem to show rigs that are heavily modified on obstacles that I would never attempt.
