Ha! I'm pretty flexible about what section of the trail to check out. I'm also hoping to get out there several times this year and eventually cover the whole trail, piece by piece.

As a side note, I have the route saved to my Google maps. I'm curious if anyone knows how to save the whole route for offline viewing, as there's probably some areas along the way with sketchy service.

That's what I'm starting to do. But, when I go to download a section, the route isn't showing up. I was hoping I could somehow save the whole route to the phone.

Also, when I was out there last time, I wasn't able to figure out how to get the phone to navigate through the route. I had to keep watching the screen and scroll through manually.

Or use Gaia. Pretty sure I still have the entire TIT on mine atm.

Not sure how nice the more northern part of the TWAT would be next weekend after all the snow we got up here. It was finally starting to dry out a bit but now it is back to being a slushy muddy mess and I'm sure it is the same in Wisconsin.

True. The further north section might be a June or July trip.

I have Gaia. I'll check it out and see if it shows the route in there. I have been using Avenza because you can download current MVUM maps. I noticed that Gaia was showing me some roads that are closed to the public according to the MVUM, so I don't know how much I trust it.

You can load the entire route into Gaia. Just gotta pull the GPS files from http://transwisconsintrail.com/wordpress/?page_id=91

I use Avenza quite a bit for work. It's really nice if you have available maps to download...or can make your own :anonymous:

thanks, that is pricey! I don't see it mentioned how long it takes? ... I am sure the ferry is not going 70+ across lake Michigan lol ... just thought it would be good to see that part of Wisconsin again ... maybe I take the long way back through Traverse City and the UP!?
I guess drive through Gary Indiana it is ... does I-94/196 have a lake view for most of the way?

next weekend is Holiday and family coming in from out of town so any other time in SW Wisconsin I can look into

north is closer to YellowstoneNP though :D

says it takes 2.5 hours on the Lake Express from Milwaukee so i will find the distance from port to port and see how fast it goes (did not see the actual speed in the link unless I missed it)

$186 for 2 adults and vehicle in the ssbadger from Manitowoc which looks slower

I'm in! Weather looks good! I'm hoping to hit the Potosi brewery at some point. Maybe even meet there Saturday for lunch and head out from there?
