There are a few mods to carry fishing rods on here. Just need to search for them and adapt one to your needs.

The rod thing is a tough one. I have some 6 footers that barely fit sideways. You could buy an sr and buy a boat with a 7ft rod box.

Not dumb at all, I have that issue too but a 6’ bed won’t solve it. I bought an aluminum rod rack that inserts in my hitch, works perfectly. I also see a lot of rod holders mounted on toolboxes or just by themselves at the front of the bed. Yeah, leaning poles on the tailgate is a great way to pop a ceramic.

If I’m towing the boat the rods go in the boat’s rod holders.

My deep vee has a locker and the flat bottom has a secure enough rod storage system. However I do a fair amount of wading and bank fishing.

Assuming the truck is still there tomorrow, I'm going for it. I've stewed about this for 24 hours now. It's not perfect, but no truck will be for me based on my wants/needs. It's darn close though. I honestly believe I will regret not buying it. Going to try to get the price down a bit more though.

Let's put it this way, I get to drive on occasion a variety of vehicles. This is the first one in a decade that put a smile on my face.

    Still stock completely capable!
Congrats man! I know exactly what you feel! It’s coming up on a year now and I honestly still smile when I drive my truck! I laugh when I see how capable it is off-road stock and the cool places and adventures it has joined me on! Can’t wait to see pictures! I personally think you won’t regret your decision!

You will not regret a Tacoma if you've properly test drove the models, analyzed the pros and cons, compared to other trucks, the fact that you made an account here means that you've already committed.

My rig wasn't anywhere West of the Mississippi, so I factory ordered one with the same discount from the dealer. The sales folks aren't paid on commission per sale, but by the # of vehicles they sell and factory ordered vehicles count the same to them.

With whichever trim level you get, enjoy the crap out of it!
