    Sorry for the lack of updates as unfortunately there aren't any to post. Basically I got hosed. The bank said they can't do anything and the police said they can't either. It's what I expected and very disappointing. At this point I'm just trying to put it all past me and learn from this mistake. Just sickens me that people do this kind of thing to others. Thanks for the support and help guys, we definitely have a great community here.

    Sorry to hear that OP! You'd think someone would be able to track it and get the money back from him.

    The plus side though, you learned and hopefully everyone who read this thread learned and won't make the same mistake! Plus karma is a bitch, he'll get his at some point.

    Believe me when I say the criminal justice system isn't meant to make things right for individuals.

    My advice would be to read up on small claims court and file a claim in your county. You might receive a default judgement if he doesn't show up. But at least that would give you a way of collecting should you win.
