I say go for it. I'm sure that everyone on this Tacoma forum will be interested in everything about the truck. You should post something every day, lol.

Just kidding. My son had a Nismo edition Frontier and I really liked the truck. It ran great, but like many have said the seats are really uncomfortable and the mileage as pretty poor. I drove with him from Texas to Norfolk, Va, and when we got there, I could hardly stand up.

I owned a'07 Xterra for 8 years. It's a Frontier without the bed. What I miss the most is the seats and seating position. For me it was the most comfortable 4x4 I have ever owned. It was also great in the snow and pretty capable off road. I bought it brand new. It was a F_#king piece of S$!t. It was so bad I was able to get Nissan of North America to extend the warranty of powertrain and drivetrain to 100k.

You have your opinion, I have mine... and mine, like 90% of everyone's, is that a sun roof is NOT a "Must Have". Lol don't get so butt hurt buddy, like I said I've had several cars with sun roofs and I enjoyed them. Just will never be a "Must Have". :argue:

I say why not, take one out for a few hours if not a day or two (rent one if need be from a car rental) and get a good feel for it before you trade in the current truck. You will always be questioning yourself if you don't make the move since you don't seem satisfied with the current truck.

    Good luck.

In AZ we get enough sun. I don't need a sun roof to let more in. We want to keep the sun off of us most of the time. Sun roof is worthless. I never use it. To each their own

I just traded my 14 Nissan Frontier King Cab SV 4X2 in for my new Tacoma. The Frontier is a really good truck. Drove it for 37k miles and never had any issues out of it. I was just finally to the point where I could afford the Taco I'd always wanted so I made the switch.

In 2001 I got a Tacoma, 15 years later I got a Tacoma, and probably around 2025 I'll get another one. No problems with the 2001, still have it, no problems at all with the 2016, and I love the sun roof :) So, I also don't give a rats ass who likes it or not, what they think is wrong with it and what's wrong with it. Metaphorically speaking!! Just like my camera will always have a Canon lens, even if Nikon thinks they have a better one, and hell, they might. Not butt hurt, just me :)

Sun roof aside, don't get a Frontier. Get a Tundra to stay in the Yota fam! Haven't heard anything about the new Colorado, but I'm pretty sure it's blasphemy to mention that truck on TW... Might be a better option than the Frontier as well.

I had a brief stint with a new Silverado (14 4WD doublecab Z71), I consistently got 19-20 city and 23-25 hwy. There are full sizes that get the same mileage as the new taco. My buddies new F150 with the 2.7 gets 20-21 city.

Which they consider the "all new tundra" they even released ads saying that. Much like the new taco carries over alot from the old, at least it got a new powertrain.

    Same here. Tacos and Canon.

Small tidbit, my family and I vacationed in Seattle last year and fell in love with Issaquah. We seriously considered cashing out of CA/selling the house and living a nice outdoor life there!

I had a 2010 Xterra. Bullet proof. Gas mileage is noticeably worse.

I'll be interested in the redesign of the Frontier. The Navara looks pretty cool IMO, and I'm interested to see what engines will be offered.

Tonight, I almost ordered the steak fajita but went for the camarones a la diabla instead. It was a good choice.

Someone mentioned the Colorado. A sunroof isn't even an option on the Colorado. I've read it's roof is made of sheet moulding compound like a Corvettes so I'm not even sure aftermarket is an option.

Just test drove a Frontier Pro-4X w/manual yesterday to see if it is an alternative to Taco. Not really. Overall a POS. Typical absurdly high Nissan clutch pedal (had that in Nissans I owned in the past). Shitty seats. On the plus side - nice size (felt much smaller than Taco, well it was smaller I guess), the engine seemed decent.

Toyota pisses me off with the 2016 issues and their abysmal customer service. I am holding off the purchase anyway.

I owned '06 Frontier before getting my Tacoma. Big difference between the 2. The frontier has a stout frame (fully boxed if I remember correctly) and suspension. Thing was a fat pig. V6 is a solid engine however the transmission sucks. I don't know if it's been changed but it would lug at around 45 mph. Frontier has a turning radius of a dump truck. Absolutely sucked worse than the full size trucks at work. It rides stiff. I bought in '06 and kept it till '12. No issues with it but I worried about getting the strawberry milkshake in the radiator. I hated the interior as it felt cheap to me. In the end I was disappointed with it cause I was expecting Nissan Hardbody quality like my '95. I never fell in love with it like my '95 or Tacoma. Not saying it's a bad truck at all but it ain't no Tacoma.

It all boils down to personal choice and opinion. Both have pro/cons.
Example. some say the Nissan seats are not comfortable, some say they are. Some say Toyota seats are not comfortable, some say they are.

I have holding off on buying a mid size. I have so far ruled out the GMC/Chevy. I am hoping Nissan brings out an updated Frontier late this year or early next. Hopefully Toyota will address some of the issues brought up in this forum.

Turn radius in the Nissan is only 1 foot more than the Toyota 43' to 42'. if what is posted specs are correct.

Right now, Nissan is quite a bit cheaper than a Toyota with more options.
