30 minutes? So about the same time he and Toyota spent developing the redesign?

Bad Ass.....WTF Sweers, are you like 16?

People take the seat belt bracket too seriously. Just because a part is pretty much the same as the previous generation doesnt mean its the same. The frame is about 95% the same, inner bed is about 95% the same, cab is pretty much the same except made with high strength steel in some places. Technically he didnt make that up, as an engineer they are different.

Could be or we could be right. Seatbelt bracket Mike is the one who redesigned Tundra, and look how mediocre sales of the Tundra are.
He now redesigned Tacoma, if Tacoma falls on its face like Tundra, Toyota is going to pull the plug on San Antonio factory as they wanted to do before. What saved Tundra was Tacoma moving out of NUMMI.
But if Tacoma sales fall than bye bye Toyota pickup trucks.
And not many people are on the market for cartoonishly looking, severely underpowered, mostly overpriced, dead last in class for everything except number of GoPro brackets vehicle.
Some will either keep their old trucks who are better than new reincarnation of Aztec or will take an opportunity to try something new.
With Honda and new Frontier coming, Toyota needs to step up.
Putting better engine would be the right step, installing boxed frame that is rust proofed is also right step.

Lol. I did get a laugh out of this.

The only hope I heard in that interview was when Sweers said that he welcomes competition because it makes it easier on him to ask for development money from the Toyota board of directors.

So maybe with a new Honda and Nissan as competition, he will get more money to create a Gen 3 truck as opposed to this Gen 2.5.

Maybe that is the actual problem, Toyota did not believe GM is building midsize so they cheap out on money for our man Mikey.
Than whatever money he got he blew on stupid shit like GoPro mount, or idiotic multicolor dash that makes truck look like KIA Soul, not to mention cartoonish front grill.
All we need now is bunch of Hello Kitty emblems and douchebag mod is fully complete.
Come on Toyota you can do better..

Obviously your job has nothing to do with business or engineering.

I did not waste my time clicking on the video. I would wish that I had that 30 min of my life back. Listening to him is like listening to Hillary Clinton. A very annoying voice with nothing of substance coming out of their mouths.

278 horsepower in a small truck is "severely underpowered"?

I don't know about him specifically, but I've been contacted by Toyota PR people before so they're definitely familiar with the site
