You should see the milage towing this thing, on 33s, at the 75mph speed limit

but yeah, I have towed this 4000lbs trailer from northern Ontario all the way to Boston and back, on 33s with all steel armour. Our trucks will do it fine, but expect single digit mpg (I averaged about 8.5 on the way to Boston) and high rpm’s on hills.

I choose to live with it because this truck is a riot off-road and feels much more character-filled than any of the more electric/numb full sized trucks on the road.

also it’s simple enough my dumb ape brain can work on it.

Geez, I towed a buddies enclosed 2 place triton snowmobile trailer with sleds that have to weigh at least double that, and way more boxy for a 150 mile round trip, and still got 16 mpg. If I tow my 5x10 utility trailer with just my sled aboard, I get an easy 19 mpg, and thats gotta be close to 1500 lbs loaded up. Granted its not as boxy as yours. Its fairly hilly here to, plus you can't do more than 55 mph.

I tow a Quicksilver 6.0(full aluminum construction, 800lb on 285s), truck has full steel skids and sliders, Kings, 5.29s w/ Tune, racks and camper shell. I live in SoCal near SD, and camp in Anza Borrego and Death Valley. I average 15MPG when towing, 17MPG with no trailer(same readings when towing my boat or Waverunner on trailers). These trucks are not really set-up for towing anything beyond 2000lb stock(i know it’s “rated” for more), as the rear leafs are way too soft for load sharing. I added airbags for when I tow, but rarely put them above 25PSI as my tongue weight rarely exceeds 150lb. I recently returned from a trip to Monterey CA(I5 most of the trip), averaged 16MPG keeping the truck at 70MPH(tent on roof, bed loaded for 5 days camping). Tune and gears make a world of a difference on these trucks, Night and day. IMG_2037.jpgIMG_1992.jpg
