Just curious if anyone who added an air dam to their stock TRD OR has noticed a difference in highway mileage?

    thanks

I removed mine from my Sport and still managed this on a recent trip home from the beach.

I took mine off my Sport, because it looks terrible. I don't care about the mileage

I agree it does look better without the dam for sure. Just trying to figure out if or how much it affects mileage.

    thanks

I have an SR5 with the air dam and my mileage was nearly the same going from the valley to the coast, which involves a mountain range and when we stopped for lunch in Tillamook, I turned the truck off and it indicated 26.2 mpg for 70+ miles. Going back must have been a little more uphill, was 25.6 when I shut it off in our driveway. I routinely hit the 25+ mpg mark commuting once a week on a 70 mile round trip. I'm still on the fence as to whether to remove mine or not. It's really quiet inside at 70 mph right now, I'd be curious if anyone that has removed theirs noticed any difference in wind noise or road noise along with whether they gained or lost mpg.

Seems this debate was resolved when Toyota chose to include it. Naturally, the difference will be more pronounced the more you drive at speed.

no you did not see an increase in mpg unless your truck is modified beyond stock more than just the air dam

aerodynamics prove the air dam increases mpg... it is not there for any reason other than reduced drag
therefore mpg improvement. removing it and seeing mpg increase does not compute and violates physics.

I pulled mine off my Limited the other week after driving with it for over 5,000 miles. My tank average is about the same, and my trip mpg is about the same.

But I will say the truck doesn't feel as sluggish. It's almost as if having that dam on the front created more resistance as it tried to move air around the front end. Now it feels as if the air just passes through the front end and the truck doesn't feel like its pushing against a wall of air.

It looks much better, now I just need a nicer skid plate.

It just feels better without it. Looks like a Tacoma suppose to when removed.

I think Toyota throws those on there to make the EPA happy. They tell people they can remove them because I don't even think Toyota likes them. If it were super effective at improving MPG it would be stuck to your truck. Take it off and enjoy the extra ground clearance.

The air dam is to offset all the extra drag from the fake hood scoop

Lol I love how people claim they feel the difference with the air dam removed. There is no way it creates that much drag that it's actually noticeable
