I use it sucessfully in my vehicles following their guidlines. Never have had any problems and all of my engines are nice and clean (inside valve covers).

I've used 5w30 mobil1 synth since my truck had about 10k miles on it, i got it at 7k, it's at 56k now. I usually run K&N filters religiously, but I was in pepboys and poped open a mobil1 filter which was 12.99 and a k&N filter which was 13.99 and examined them and they literally look IDENTICAL, everything on them looks the same, the only difference i could see is the K&N filter has that welded on nut at the top and the mobil1 filter has a blank spot. Needless to say, i went with the mobil1 filter for the dollar less lol

Both filters are made by Champion Labs and filter down to 10 microns. They are very good filters IMO.

I go a year. The last two it's been 4000 and about 6000. I've heard no matter the mileage oil shouldn't be left in more than a year. This has been one with valvoline and one with mobil 1 synthetic both times

Go ~5000mi on synthetic. Change the oil filter & top off. Send an oil sample in and get a TBN.

I go anywhere between 3000-3500 miles on mobil 1 syn.

I baby my truck (maintenance wise) and I like working on my cars. So its a combination of having an excuse to change the oil so I can just work on the truck. :D

oem is $5 yet you'll buy the more expensive and crappy K&N type filter....that makes alot of sense

oh man, you said their crappy, and provide no information disproving whether they're(and I say they're because I said i'm using Mobil1 filters now) good or even that they're less than OEM. CLEARLY you're winning the debate lol

    *edit*

    from http://www.corolland.com/oil-filters.html

On toyota filters: General observations: This filter is probably a Purolator as the by-pass valve is a Purolator-type design. It has a nice glue job on the filter element end caps, but I don't particularly like the cardboard end-caps, though they have to work OK or Toyota wouldn't use them. I like the seal that goes against the engine block being rounded on the surface that contacts the block. The pleats of this filter are turned 90-degrees from the pleats of all the other filters (you'll have to see the photo's). This filter is made in the USA. There is no notation as to what standards this filter meets (J806 or J1858).

on 'crappy' K&N style filters: General observations: I believe this oil filter is also made by Champion and I think this is a quality filter, just a step above the AC-Delco, STP and Bosch (the Mobil 1, which is also a Champion, probably has a better filter media than this K&N, but I'm not going to cut my Mobil 1 open, I'm going to use it on the car instead and maybe I'll cut it open after I use it). The pleats in this filter were very nicely spaced, better than any other Champion designed filter I've seen. The glue at metal end-caps was a little sloppy. I do like this by-pass valve design, it is just like the AC-Delco, STP and Bosch filters and in my opinion it's a good one. I really like the seal that mates to the engine block being rounded too, which the AC-Delco, STP and Bosch also have. This filter has a 1" nut welded onto the outer case to facilitate removal of the filter by a 1" wrench. This nut also has a hole drilled in it, the idea being that if you're going to race you can wire the filter in pl ace to prevent it from ever loosening and coming off, kind of boy-racer stuff and not needed for normal service and besides there isn't anyplace to attach the wire. This is similar to how you safety wire an oil filter onto an aircraft engine (look at a Continental or Lycoming aircraft engine sometime). This filter is made in the USA. It doesn't say which standard it meets, but if you read the box the filter comes in it speaks very highly of itself. It’s different than the AC-Delco, STP and Bosch in the thickness of its case and the slightly longer lip on the anti-drainback valve but otherwise everything else looks the same at the others (I can't say about the filtering media itself, but it looks the same but there is just a little more of it).

lol i didn't know we were in a debate lol

as for my back up: i don't feel like searching for it right now, but there was an extensive research done comparing all the off the shelf filters...

"but if you read the box the filter comes in it speaks very highly of itself." if this is really what you're relying your purchase on, wow

you do realize, that firstly if this was a debate you failed miserably, you also take the only 50/50 statement out of context, in context is reads that it doesnt say whether it meets the J806 or J1858 standards. Which the toyota filter supplied no information either.

It's safe to say your beginning statement of paying more for less "doesnt make sense" considering the toyota filter has a paper element just like fram, good job

    from http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english..._1_Extended_Performance_Oil_Filters_FAQs.aspx

Does ExxonMobil make oil filters for use with Mobil 1?[IMG]ExxonMobil does offer a very high-quality oil filter that can be used with any motor oil, but it is an especially appropriate companion to Mobil 1. Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filters contain synthetic fibers instead of the typical cellulose filter media. With a 99.2 percent efficiency rating (under SAE J1858 Multi-Pass Efficiency Test), the Mobil 1 filter is much more efficient than a typical oil filter, removing more particles per pass through the filter. In addition, the synthetic fibers in the Mobil 1 filter have less resistance to oil flow, reducing the potential for the filter to restrict the flow of oil to your engine.

there's my proof, back your statement "oem is $5 yet you'll buy the more expensive and crappy K&N type filter....that makes alot of sense"

    you're an official fucktard lol

mobil1 filters and k&N filters are made by the same company as stated by myself and another poster in the thread.
